If you have a 14000 btu unit on a 120volt circuit, the circuit has to be dedicated, which means that the a/c unit has to be the eonly appliance on that circuit. but you need to check to see if that unit is even compatable with that voltage, it might require 240volt circuit.

My kenmore 12000 btu portable air conditioner keeps switching to DH mode out of AC mode

That means that it is dehumidifying. Is the air coming out still cold? I assume you have tried using the mode button to switch it back? Is the air extremely humid? Perhaps it is humid enough that the machine needs to dry the air before safely operating as an AC. The manual is available here:

What is the measurement of ton on ac units.

Ton is a measure of cooling only when buildings were cooled by ice and how many tons of ice they would use in 24 hours.
British Thermal Units (BTU's) is also a measure of cooling as well as heating in 1 hour.
1 ton equals 12,000 BTU/hr and 1 watt equals to 3.41214 BTU/hr.

these have to be in correctly to lock back in and allow the unit to function. Try removing the bin again and be sure there isn't any small pieces of ice trapped anywhere. Also make sure there aren't any broken pieces from the bin. Hope this helps. Good luck.

What is the power draw (in watts or amps) of the Kenmore 5300BTU room air conditioner? The unit is being powered off the grid by an inverter, and I think the user chose too light weight an inverter for the...

5.8 amps. see page 9 (5300 btu is considered a 6000 BTU, 4800 is considered 5000 btu, sorta like a 2x4 ain't really a 2x4 LOL)
You cannot run an ac on an inverter, not enough juice to get it started.
