SOURCE: Faulty monitor
This is most probably cause by one or more Faulty Electrolytic Capacitors, I find these are the MOST commonest form of "Fault" in these LCD's TFT's units. I ususally simply replace "On Spec" all High Value Electros, in fact ALL Electro's are suspect and often I just "Shotgun" and replace 'em all. Usually fixes all problems. Always use High Temperature Caps.
SOURCE: Monitor Screen goes black seconds after turn on-
I ended up fixing my problem, but I'm not sure what the solution is. I had some faulty electrical equipment that I was using to power the monitor (220V to 110V converter and a bad power strip) and I got rid of them. I was using the converter because I moved to Israel and I thought I needed to feed the monitor only 110V, but I now realize that the power cord for the monitor has a built-in converter that accepts 220V input. Now the monitor is plugged directly into the wall and is working fine. Try using a different power source (maybe the wiring or plug you're using is faulty). Good Luck!

More often then not, this is attributed to a failing Backlight Inverter. A Backlight Inverter, is a power board mounted below the screen that actually send power to the Lamp inside the LCD itself. Check to see, when it goes out if there isn't still some images faint in the screen. If this is the case take it to a local repair shop and have them order one and replace it. repair cost for this shuold be around 65-100 dollars.
If this helps, please rate my solution. Have a great day.

This sounds like you have "bricked" your psp... there are a few things that can cause this: first would be that you have bricked it trying to install Custom Firmware, another would be that the battery died or it was shut off during an update. You can buy what is called a Pandora Battery and a "magic" memory stick which will reset your PSPs firmware to the original 1.5, or if you still have warranty you can send it in to Sony to get fixed. Pandora batteries and Magic Memory Sticks are sold in a package for about $10-15 on the internet. Good Luck, hope you fix it.
