Question about ASUS A8N-SLI Deluxe Motherboard

1 Answer

Usb problems After attempting to install KB941600 and KB941649 (vista) my usb mouse (and game controllers) have refused to work. However, the usb flash drive still works, but only in 2 of the 4 ports. This problem persists even after I have successfully installed the aforementioned updates. System restore has also failed to fix this. The PS/2 ports still work. This is very confusing to me, please help.

Though this motherboard is not fully VISTA capable, you may still be able to try it out using either VISTA built in drivers or their native Windows XP device drivers.
Please kindly refer to the page below for a list of "VISTA installable" non-VISTA compatible motherboard:

I just bought a new mouse for my laptop. It is a Targus Kaleidoscope Optical Mouse. For my HP Pavilion dv2700, I plugged it in and it will not work,it did install itself several times.Everytime I plugged...

First thing you need to do is to know that the USB ports of your laptop is really working. Insert another usb devices or storage such a flash disk. If the flash disk being inserted is not recognized by the system then the usb port you had inserted is malfunctioning or it is defective. But if the other usb devices like the flash disk is working then your new bought mouse is defective. Try to plug the usb mouse to the other ports available in your laptop.

My laptop dose not recognice my mouce...... it says device unknown.......... the mouse works on any other system......... i have a 64 bit vista .... what do i do

Check whether you are having the USB controllers installed correctly or not. To check this navigate to device manager and in that check for the USB controllers , then right click the USB controllers and then uninstall them , then goto "Action" Tab and perform "Scan for Hardware Changes" then the USB controllers are installed properly.

Frozen cursor on new emachine laptop

Before you plan to return make sure you have done some or all of this things first:

1. Did you reboot after you installed the Enterprise 2007 ?
2. Did you make sure that if its a USB mouse that it is securely connected to the USB port ?
3. Were you able to move your mouse without any problem at all before the software installation ?
4. Have you had this problem before the installation of Enterprise 2007 ?
5. Have you done all your software and windows updates ?
6. Will the mouse work when booting into Safe Mode ( pressing F8 during re-boot before Windows Vista loads) If it does then your softwares need to be updated.
7. Did you check you device manager to see that theres no yellow exclamation anywhere in the Mice and othert pointing devices or under the USB controller section?
8. Is there a legacy USB port to be activated on your computer BIOS ?

If the installation caused your mouse to be frozen then try and uninstall the Enterprise 2007 by using your keyboard and tab to the programs uninstall.

If your mouse still doesn't move after doing all of the above things
then try another new USB mouse. Sometimes you may have to wait for several seconds (even up to a minute for new usb mouse detection) before the USB mouse cursor will move. If the second new USB mouse still wont work then return it to where you bought it as it could be faulty usb connector

Targus Wireless Laser Rechargeable Notebook Mouse problem

The mouse worked initially....have you tried doing a system restore back to a few weeks ago to see if that solves the problem..
With Vista and so many of it's incompatibility issue's...you maybe have downloaded something and it corrupted your software for that mouse...

Here is the url with vista drivers. Redownload the drivers and install...see if this helps

Installation

First, I'm going to assume this controller is usb and not wireless, blue-tooth, or gameport. Second, if you have a usb mouse or keyboard and it works fine, then its going to be that you need to find vista drivers for your device and install the drivers before plugging it in. If you have another usb device, try plugging it into the usb port and if it doesnt work either your computer is faulty or you need to update it. Vista is rather fickle when it comes to drivers and what not. Instead of windows coming out with the drivers, they let other people come out with them then they endorse those drivers. Try going to logitechs site, they are usually extremely helpful and easy to navigate. You can probably find drivers for your device easily. If you need any more help, let me know, I'll find you a few other solutions.
