I never get a "green" light, only a "yellow" light on the display panel whenever i put in any kind of disk. the tray is a little loose once it's completely extended, but requires extra force to get it to close. the laptop shows a disk in the drive, but it has no size. the device manager shows no problems. there is no updated driver. i've manually cleaned the laser lens twice and used a cleaning disk twice. is this a problem with the drive itself? can it be fixed without replacement?
All I did unmount the dvd drive, take it apart (nails and rails) and put it back together. After doing so, I popped it in and it worked. I just saved 200 dollars! Thanks 1000uses. I would of never thought this was the problem. Everyone kept saying laser has gone bad.
Well if you use extra force to close the disk drive that means in some place inside the drive or computre is hitting in order to make it work ok it have to be smoth bacause it has a switch that switch turn on the light and the power to the spiner disk and the lens so pull the device out by removing the screws on the bottom of the computer then slide the tray out check for bended parts or any extrange object into the drive and when the lens does not read disk may be the lens and mechanism is bad in that case no chois you have to get a new one
