Question about Hitachi 50V500 50 in. HD-Ready LCD Television
It's not your nicotine. It's your light engine; it is failing. Eventually, the screen will be so yellow, it will look surreal.
Replace the optic/light engine in order to correct the issue. Average cost for your model is around $800.00 for the part, so you may want to weigh your options. If you can live with it, great; but if you can't, look to put that money into a new set, as you're probably not comfortable with installing a whole light engine.
Now, if it is just your tobacco (which I doubt, since I smoke like a chimney), you will need to remove the screen by removing the screws along the top and back of the set. Screen comes off from the front, and the mirror is installed in the back.
But 99.9% sure it's your engine.
