Hi,
From reading the manual on your product it looks like you need to wear a chest belt. This records your heart rate and transmit it to your watch. Also, If you are doing something strenuous like riding a bike and want to take the watch off but still have it measure your heart rate it has to be within a certain distance of the chest belt for the watch to pick up the signal.

Also, You need to set up your user profile with age, ***, activity level, etc. This will help the clock give you a more accurate reading on what your low heart rate and high heart rate levels should be.

I have a copy of the user manual if you would like one. Just let me know what your email address is and I will be happy to email you a copy.

I would next check the batteries. Even though you get what they call "new" batteries when you buy something it is a good idea to check those and replace them with new ones. It could be that the batteries need to be replaced. I will keep checking and see if I can come up with anything else.

The heart rate function does not work.

I got mine to start working by turning it on/off. This is done by pressing the top right, bottom right, and bottom left buttons for 5 seconds.

Heart rate writst watch won't work

Hi,
Here is the manual for your heart rate monitor:
http://www.omronhealthcare.com/img/shop/hr-100c---2003-hr100cinst-rev-a.pdf
The size of your wrist shouldn't matter, because you can actually mount the monitor to a bike handle, so you don't have to be wearing it at all. It's just acting as a receiver, displaying the info. Are you wearing the transmitter belt, is it positioned correctly, and tight enough? Are you putting water or gel on the backside of the transmitter so that you get good conduction and contact? Is the transmitter belt within 20 inches of the monitor receiver display?
The transmitter battery might be low. If so, the symptom would be that your readings can be erratic. I know you said that you just bought it, but batteries can be low in new products. ..How many times have you bought a new digital watch only to find that it had a low battery...You can replace the battery in the transmitter with a lithium 3v battery #CR2032. Do you see a low battery indicator? If so, the display (receiver) battery also needs replacing and it uses the same battery as the transmitter.
Hope it helps, please let me know.
Thanks

I bought a Timex H/R/M and on my first swim workout, it kept slipping out of place. This happened everytime I pushed off the wall to swim freestyle. Any suggestions?

Timex watches are not designed for swimming, snorkel or diving unless it is stated on the watch itself. All the info about water resistance is mend to be when the watch is in still/motionless position submersed in water. If you are looking for the watch to withstand your swimming activities - you have to by any watch with the marking 50 or100 meters at least.

Without knowing how hard you have exercised (heart rate) it wont be able to calculate how many calories you have burned.

Watch goes slow when wearing it but keeps time when not wearing it Because I started having a problem with an old reliable Acqua quartz analog watch running slow,  I replaced it with a new Timex quartz...

There is nothing wrong with your watch. Probably it's the one measuring heart rate and pulse (heart beats per second).
Use your users manual to set the watch.
By the way: Timex is one of the worst watch producers.
