Power head turned off when wires got caught in it. Canister on/off switch still works but power head does not after removed the wires. How can I switch the power head back on?

I was vacuuming my rug and some wires got wound around the power head and it automatically switched itself off, but the canister did not and is still fine. I tried pressing the little red button on the poser head but got no response. Anita.

SOURCE: Canister works, vacuum doesnt

There could be a break in the electric from the machine to the hose - or from the hose to the wand - or from the wand to the Power Nozzle - or it could be the motor is bad.

Wiggle the cord at the Hose with it running- then go to the Wand - then to the Power Nozzle. You may find a break in the wires anywhere along the line.

unplug the Vacuum:

If you have a meter check to see if the reset is working - and last check to see if the motor will work removed from the Nozzle.

The easiest solution would be to call your local Aerus/ Electrolux representative, because the corporation doesnt publish diagrams.

SOURCE: meile s251i won't turn on

Hi If the power head isn't working it may be clogged. Try taking it apart to see if threads and general dirt has got in at the sides. Also without the power head if the Miele still isn't working then its a possibility that the on switch wiring is either loose or check the plug at the end of the power cord.

SOURCE: Central Vac will not turn on.

These problems are nearly exclusively caused by a bad circut board and replacing it is the fix. Bad boards can cause many different effects so its nearly impossible to be sure. The 9v signal wire is not enough to short out an entire unit so it is unlikely the hose. If it is a direct connect system and you are pulling power from the 110 somehow that would cause main unit problems but that is unlikely at best. Sounds like a failed board to me.

Best of Luck

Power head not working

Steve:

The terminals for the power head plug into a terminal inside the machine. You'll need to unplug the machine from the wall and open the canister to find where the terminal wires plug into. You probably need to open the lower half of the canister to find those terminal plugs. It would help if you have a multimeter. The wires actually run through the hose, so I would check the hose carefully to see if the wires have been damaged there.

Miele white star canister vacuum - won't turn on, but isn't clogged

Miele S251i Plus Bagged Canister Vacuum
Miele white star canister vacuum - won't turn on,...
Hi,

I have the above canister vac, which after my son tried to vac the stairs, it rolled down the stairs on him, but still worked, after turned off/on. Then after turned off maybe 10-15 mins., stopped working when we tried the switch. My father in law is our fix it guy, but still having a problem with the switch. Is there a wiring guide we could look at?

Thank you!

ALevy

I would advise you to ALWAYS to FIRST UNPLUG YOUR VACUUM before beginning any service procedure.
You can try to call the factory for the Miele S251i schematics / wiring diagram @ the phone number and website listed below or I put a few pieces of information listed below that might help.
1. The vacuum cleaner switches off automatically
A temperature limiter switches the vacuum cleaner off automatically if it gets too hot. Some models have a warning light (triangle) which comes on to indicate that it has overheated. Allow the appliance to cool down for approx. 30 mins. and remove any blockages to the air path.
2. The "Change dustbag" indicator stays on even when a new bag has been inserted
To ensure the dustbag change indicator gives a correct reading, lift the floor nozzle or power head off the floor slightly to prevent the vacuum created in the suction tube from influencing the reading.
3. The exhaust filter indicator is red
Change the exhaust filter and then press "Reset" to switch off the indicator light.

Rainbow D4C power switch replacement

As far as I know, that switch with 6 terminals is still available. But if not, I would wire the 2 for the power head and the 2 motor wires together. Then you would have 4 leads to attach.

Kenmore canister model 116

Yes. Remove the top plate on the power head. Remove the two screws. Flip the power head over. Insert a flat head screw driver into each of the marked slots and separate the two pieces. It takes about 2 minutes.
