Question about Sony Playstation 3 (PS3) Console
I just bought a used ps3. I tried to hook all kinds of cables, hmi, av, whatever and checked everything, the input and the output. But still I dont get any picture although I can hear the sound. Thanks.
Hook up the composite cables that come with the unit. Turn the TV on to the correct input. Turn the PS3 on using the power button on the unit. When you press the button continue holding the button until you hear a second beep....about five seconds. That should set the PS3 back to the factory output. If that corrects the problem you can set the PS3 to use whichever cable you want via the XMB.

Tips for a great answer:
May 30, 2011 | Televison & Video
May 16, 2011 | Sony Playstation 3 (PS3) Console
Mar 11, 2011 | Samsung LN-T4053H 40 in. LCD Television
Press and hold the power button again
until it shuts off again.
Once you have verified that AV is working, turn off console, take out AV cables.
Plug in HDMI cable and turn system back on. Switch TV input to HDMI and it will ask you if you would like to use the HDMI cables, select yes again and verify.
If you cannot get sound, again, check the cables..
If new cables do not work, then your HDMI output is going bad, not from use rather normal wear and tear of the motherboard.
To get the best non HD picture, you will need to get some 'component' cables, rather than the standard AV (red, white, yellow).
