Question about Lenovo 3000 N100 0768 - Pentium Dual Core T2060 1.6 GHz - 15.4in. TFT PC Desktop
I have a lenovo 3000 n100 laptop. After a year, almost exactly, it will only go to the rescue and recovery 4 screen on start up. It starts with a screen asking if you would like to fix the problem or start windows normally but either way takes you to rescue and recovery 4 which only goes as far as picking a language. I ordered the recovery disks and it does not read them, the boot order is correct with the dvd drive first. It will be a black screen while the light blinks on the dvd drive then it goes back to the same screens for start up before the disk was ever used. I used a docking station to use another computer to get my files off of the hard drive but the other computer says the drive needs to be formatted. Does this mean my hard drive is bad and thats why it cant read the recovery disks. If not how can I get the disks to work. This was one of two identical computers bought and given to me and my sister. Both have the same problem that started a year after the computer was first used (couple months difference) I can not find a way to do diagnostics either. If I need a new hard drive is there one better than the other. Vista is the operating system. Has anyone else had this problem.
If the drive was bad, it SHOULD give an error message to that fact. You have 2 doing the same thing. I do NOT believe in coincidence. I would first try a new hard drive. If that works, you have to determine the value of the data on the old drive(s). A data recovery service may be your only refuge, albeit, expensive.
If a new drive does not work, I would contact Lenovo. If you have 2 out of 2 bad, unless you use your laptop as a car jack to change tires, they must have seen this problem before. They may even offer to repair at no charge even though the systems are out of warranty.
I hope that helps.
