Question about Refrigerators

1 Answer

Hi I have a whirlpool GR25hwxpb02 refrigerator. When I open it up the bar on the ice maker had come off. I can't quite see where to put it back in, because the front of the ice maker blocks the the view of where the bar should be inserted. Is it the bar totally broken off?

Thanks!!!!!! I found the slot, and my ice maker came back to life. I would have never thought of the using a small mirror although that was an incredibly obvious thing to do.

The front , fits into a I looking slot . The rear fits into the white plastic piece with a hole in it . Press firmly into the front piece . Use a small mirroe ( wifes compact etc...) to see if needed .

Whirlpool ice maker quit.

If it's similar to my Samsung, mine did the same. There is a reset button at the front of the box which contains the ice cube tray. If you press it, the ice tray rotates to dump the cubes, then refills. Hope this helps.

Model ED2CHOXK005 Whirlpool refrigerator with ice maker the ice maker quit working still puts ouf water but no ice

The problem is most likely your water control valve for the ice maker. There are 2 one for ice maker and the other is for the dispenser. Fill your ice maker with tap water. Let it freeze and if it dumps and does not refill then the water control valve part number 2188542 let me know if you need more help, Sea Breeze

The icemaker won't make ice.

Try this,Open the freezer and look at the ice maker, there is a bar above the ice bin that kinda looks like a piece of metal coat hanger,Push it to the down position. If it is already down,Post back

Ice maker has stoped making ice. The bar that cuts it off when enough ice is made moves a little while in the up position.

lifting the bar to the full up position is how you stop the ice maker from making ice. move the bar back down and ice making will resume.

Sound the the bi-metal is starting to fail or the freeezer is not getting cold enough. If you put a thermometer into the freezer and it gets below 8 degrees and does not harverst then your looking at the ice maker which is a Whirlpool part number 4317943. This a kit will replace most of those style ice makers. It is the quickest and easiest way to solve your problem. You should be able to get it for between $85 to $160 depending on where you live and who you buy it from.

Ice Maker

  1. Water comes from water pipe, usually with a shut off valve (open??).
  2. Fridge has a small filter (for sand etc.) at inlet. (not clogged??)
  3. Water travels to solenoid valve, and waits for request. (do you hear it click when water requested??)
  4. Water usually goes to a fine filter..(these fail (plug) quite regularly).
  5. Water goes through storage in back of cool section (Inside fridge- is it full of water?).
  6. Water goes to ice maker on fill request.
  7. ?? Is the power switch "on" (to icemaker)??
  8. ?? Is the full / stop filling paddle/bar up?
  9. ...ask me more questions
