Since the bios are locked down this isn't a good idea. You have to put the correct cpu id on the board. Then you need to change settings that can't be changed on the laptop regarding the thermal area.
Most speed problems are related to visat so I would wait for windows 7.

It all depends on the Model of the motherboard if it supports a particular processor.
