Question about Canon Office Equipment & Supplies
since u dint specify ur printer model.... iam giving u a generic reset procedure..... first try this
1. Turn off printer
2. Hold down Resume button and press Power button.
3. Keep holding down Power button and let Resume button go.
4. Press Resume button 2 times then let BOTH buttons go.
5. Green lights will flash and then stop blinking.
6. When green lights are solid, press the Resume button 4 times.
7. Press the Power button and the printer should turn off, if not,
press the Power button once more.
8. Your printer should respond as normal..
5100 is a Carriage Home Position Error. if the above reset procedure dint help....
try cleaning the plastic strip that runs the length of the carriage, it may be contaminated.
Use alcohol and a swab.
check the timing strip for contamination(plastic strip about 1/4" in width)
The unit is not homing, check for obstructions.
if even after cleaning the strip ur experiencing the problem then u can be rest assured that its time to call canon...
thank you for using Fixya...
have a nice day
