The cable (20amp) at the back of my oven melted. At first I thought it was badly installed so I had a new wire installed. It's working again but I think the outside of the oven is too hot on the outside. What's the maximum temperature should it be, i.e. how hot is too hot?
SOURCE: oven overheating
I have just purchased a new thermostat and installed it. The oven now works fine and the heat light cut in and out showing temperature is being controlled.

From the symptoms you describe, I would say the oven thermostat is faulty, and in need of replacement.
This is the control you regulate the temoperature with.
Hope this helps.
SOURCE: Natural Gas, convection oven won't heat.
If the gas valve is on(no continuity) then yeah that is it, keep in mind the ignitor could be weak. I didn't notice where you replaced the ignitor and you say it is working so that means the gas valve has continuity. You need 37 ohms on that ignitor or a total amp draw of at least 3.5 to open that valve.I have a video: HERE
