Connect an Ethernet cable from your computer to the Arris.
Turn the Arris on.
Turn on (or reboot) your computer.
Open a command-line prompt on your computer.
Enter 'IPCONFIG' to see the IP-address of the "default gateway".
Open your web-browser, and type that IP-address into your web-browser, to access the configuration-page of the Arris.
Configure the Arris.
Turn the Arris off.
Connect the coaxial cable.
Turn the Arris on.
Reboot your computer.
Done.
I have an Arris cable modem and use Xbox live. They work very well together. Most ISP's will only allow one active device at a time. When you switch between you cable modem and your Xbox you need to use a pen and press the reset button on the arris every single time you switch.
