No sound in a reformatted computer

Hi,

I recently reformatted my computer (acer ferrari 1000). I have done this before and am having the same problem as last time. I can only hear system sounds. Last time I think I only installed the driver from the manufacturer (realtek high def), but I cannot remember. I tried installing the driver from the manufacturer with no luck. There is also a yellow question mark next to the sm bus controller, and I have been unable to update the driver for this. It currently says I have no sound device. Any assistance would be GREATLY appreciated! Here is a belarc report of my system:

I am asking if anyone knows what the problem with my sound might be, which is why the message is long because usually people need all of the details. Here is the main portion of my message as the rest are my computer system stats:

Ferrari 1000 LCD failer

Hi, Your post "Would a failed Inverter on an Acer Ferrari 1000 cause the system to not recognize the installed LCD?" No,the inverter only provides the high freq high volt for the backlight. Monitor/LCD recognition is part of your video/display controller. Pls check your video drivers (ATI Radeon Xpress 1150). Also your Default Monitor Properties. Hope this gives you some idea, Good luck and pls post again how things turn up. Kind regards.

How can i load the bios setup if F2 or F12 keys are not working in my "Acer Ferrari 1000" notebook.?

You can do this by buying an external usb keyboard and connecting it to your computer usb port. When you restart your computer you should be able to enter your bios setup by means of pressing F2 or F12... Have a nice day friend. Hope this would solve your problem.

I have an Acer Ferrari 1000 laptop and when i switched it off, it says "configuring updates", however it seems to freeze there and when I switched it off and on again, it automatically goes to "configuring...

Several questions:

When did this start?

How long have you let it sit working on this?

What was changed {software, hardware, project you were working on} shortly before this started?

With the info you have already, it sounds like the windows update, or some other update has ran & is now finalizing. Next time this happens, let the system chew on it, and wlak away for about an hour. Sometimes if an update has not been done for a while things tend to pile up like water behind a dam, and to get through it all it will take some time. Trust me, my mothers computer had not been updated for anything for over two years & it took over half a day for it to do its thing. Just be patient, hopefully this is all that is happening
