I bought a Casio Exilim EX-S770. I have had the camera for almost a year with no problems. I just got done taking a picture and docked it to add the picture to my computer.... the USB light will come on when it is docked but not the charge light. My camera won't turn on either.... at all. I unplugged the dock from the power source and the USB light is still on as long as the camera is on the dock. It was working fine and now nothing. I know the battery wasn't dead when I set it up to transfer the files. I am also getting a message that states: USB Device Not Recognized One of the USB devices attached to this computer has malfunctioned, and Windows does not recognize it. For assistance in solving this problem click this message.... and then the message says: Unknown device (now I have more than one USB port on my computer and have tried it in all 4 of them) It also says: try reconnecting the device. If windows still does not recognize it, replace the device. I don't understand, it seems like if it was my USB dock or even the USB cable, the camera would still turn on but I get nothing.

I've had my EX-S770 for less than 6 months. I have used it half a dozen times with no trouble till now. I placed the camera in the cradle to charge it and after 3 hours the camera still had no charge, and couldn't be turned on. If I press the photo button on the cradle the camera still powers up and goes through the slide show. The USB button works fine too. I have seen this problem on a few forums so I guess it's a production fault. Can you help as my camera is currently useless, I'm due to be going to Madrid tomorrow and have no camera to take with me. I am not happy.

Measurements confirmed that it had 3.9V across +/- terminals and 3.75V from T(-ve) to +ve terminals.
Ok odd - so I put the battery back in the camera and gave it another got, making sure I correctly orientated the battery. Press the ON button and low and much to my surprise my camera was alive again! Damn what did I do?
Before this the camera would not power on, and in the cradle it would not charge. However whilst in the cradle pressing the PHOTO cradle button would make images display and would give me access to the Sideshow menu. But that was it.
Now its as good as new. The above could have been coincidence however given the number of people with this issue I thought it at least worthy to report my experience.

This might be also why connecting to an external battery changer has the same effect. Its not the charge that is the problem is a batteries MEMORY. Just guessing here.
If you do decide a new battery is for you this is cheap for the UK.
