Printer will only print purple spreadsheets

By bughouseblue on Aug 01, 2009

" "
My HP Officejet J6480 printer prints my iMac Numbers spreadsheets in purple. It will not respond to my ''black cartridge only'' command.
If I save the spreadsheet to a PDF file, then print that file it will print black.

My Pages documents print in black.

I have uninstalled/reinstalled Numbers; created a New User account; installed a new black cartridge; checked ALL print commands (numerous times); spent around 3 hours self-troubleshooting. All to no avail.
Then I contacted Apple Support. I had already done almost everything that they suggested. After a while they sent me to HP - who, predictably, told me that it was in Apple's software and therefore could not help. Grrr !!!

Any help would be very much appreciated.

- Thank you for the reply, tommya300. I did not understand how setting properties to gray scale would cause this, however, your comment pointed me into another direction---probably the ONLY one I had not yet looked at. I clicked on INSPECTOR > PRINTER SETUP > FORMAT FOR: and found that it was set to "any printer", not HP OfficeJet. I changed it and it works correctly - first time in three days. WOO HOO!!!! I've got around seven hours troubleshooting this, and am finally done. ty ty ty so very much. Good wishes to you, Tommya300, bughouse
