Question about Hunter 23852 Classic Original Ceiling Fan
It is very, very important that you use the proper speed control (and not a standard light dimmer) with any ceiling fan, bu especially the Hunter Original models. The standard dimmer is only to my used for the light kit, and it has separate wiring from the fan motor.
Also, if a light dimmer were to be used, most fans will have a fairly loud hum.

First turn it off, then rotate the fan, half turn and try to turn if on again. if it start running again you have a faulty motor, and need to replace it. or if the problem continue, try replacing the switch in the wall.
