SOURCE: My Fender Passport stays in protect mode.

I have one that has done the same. It is the next smaller size. The power supply fried a toroidal inductor in mine. Frankly, these things are a major pain to work on. You have to usually remove the front panel before you can remove the back power supply and power amp section.

If you have warranty coverage USE IT !!!

The protect feature in mine monitors the power supply load and shuts down the supply if it senses overload. They are hard to work on as you have to bypass the protect to troubleshoot and get to the root cause.

Use the old light bulb in series trick to limit the current.

SOURCE: Power indicator light is red and the system does

It is an indication of a bad speaker cable providing a short. If it stays lit with no speaker cables plugged in it is an indication that it needs to be serviced.

SOURCE: i have a marshall avt 100 which was working fine

This is a problem I would recommend for a qualified Marshall amp service person to look at. Worst case scenario is that somehow the speaker out put transformer or the power transformer burned out. They aside from output tubes are the most expensive parts to replace. Add shop labor on top. Ask for an estimate first. Consider how much a new amp will cost and then decide. I would personally go for the repair myself.

SOURCE: I have a Frontman Fender 25R, it has a power, the

You actually have the "B" version as the original 25R doesn't have RCA jacks. Anyway, on with your problem...

I want you to do a test: With a set of headphones plug them into the preamp output and then play your guitar... don't expect much loudness, it may be very faint and will ONLY be in one of the sides of the headphones. This tests the preamp section... have the guitar volume wide open.

IF you can hear the guitar that way, then the switch contact on the PA INPUT jack (not the preamp output) is not making contact. These jacks are really poor and the problem is not that uncommon. Fix is to open the unit and increase the spring tension on the contact or replace the jack. Never use the jack as they worsen evertime you plug something into it.

Note that the failing switch symptom MAY be broken soldering in the vicinity of the jack so look for that also. And also check the soldering of the guitar input jack as that is a common problem. Always loop your guitar cable through the handle so tripping over the cable doesn't break the jack by yanking the plug sideways... another common problem.

SOURCE: I had major static sounds from my yamaha stagepas

Chances are there is nothing wrong with the mixer. IF you accidentally turned on Phantom power, that would cause the problem. Phantom is ONLY used with condenser mics and a few DI boxes. Turning it on can create noise unless balanced lines are used everywhere.

Fender Passport pro 500 - speaker static temporary, then goes away. Usually occurs shortly after turning system on.

If this system is still under warranty get it to a warranty service center. This is an early stage symptom of failure with the Power Amp IC. Fender has a good warranty policy on this stuff - 1 to 3 years

If not under warranty you may want to wait until it the problem is more persistent - easier for a tech to fix - unless it IS every time right now. A good tech can identify the issue quickly once "on the bench". My 'gut' feeling is the Power Amp IC when the system is first energizing to full stable power.

With the wireless mike and the 1/4-inch mike jack and the line-in from a CD-player, how can the volumes be separately adjusted?

Adjust the CD level at the CD player itself. Truly independent adjustment is probably not possible on this small system.

I purchased a Passport 500 less than one year ago, used it maybe 10 times and recently turned it on to use and it would not power up. No lights nothing. Checked the fuse ok. Tried a new fuse nothing. ...

Check that the power cord is seated completely. These are hard to work on and if there is a failure in it, it is unlikely you will get it restored in time. I would suggest renting a system until you get it repaired. You need rent only a powered mixer with suitable cables as your speakers should be fine. The way the Fender Passport is packaged makes them difficult to work on.

We have a Fender P-250 PA system. We get the protect light on when we turn on the system rather than the green power light. We can not get it to operate. Please advise... Gary

Likely there is either a failure in one of the power amps or the power supply. The protect means excess current is being sensed.

You need to take in for repair... these are really hard to work on due to the packaging.

This is likely a power supply failure. These are a pain to work on during repair due to packaing arrangement.

What's the best way to connect a PC (with DJ software) to a Fender PAssport 500 PRO (I want stereo input)?

Best way is to use a 1/8 TRS (stereo) to 1/4 TRS (stereo) cable from the PC into the Stereo 1/4 inch jacks right below the RCA stereo input jacks.

TRS stands for tip-ring-sleeve which means the jacks have the extra "ring" over a mono jack.
