Question about NEC Computers & Internet

1 Answer

One way audio on NEC ITL 12 button IP Phone at remote site. Main site has IP Phones which are working fine. IP Phone connected to Cisco 3560 24 port poe switch. Switch connected to 2801 router. Point to point T-1 connects remote site to main site. 2801 router at main site is connected to sonic firewall which is connected to Cisco GB switch, which is connected to a cisco 3560 POE switch where the SV8100 system is connected too. IP to IP call, main site can here remote site, remote site can not. TCP is working fine, UDP is not. Firewall is wide open. I do have VLAN setup for main site. Which device do you think is causing the blockage? VLAN, or routing?

This is likely a config problem on the NEC or a hardware/software issue on the NEC. Do a Wireshark capture on the NIC on both ends. Examine the RTP streams and see if they are intact. You may have to decode the stream from UDP to RTP depending on if it is a peer to peer call or if it is going through the 8100. Plenty of documentation on how to do that at Wireshark's website.

the service is completely free and covers almost anything you can think of (from cars to computers, handyman, and even drones).
click here to download the app (for users in the US for now) and get all the help you need.
goodluck!

Cisco IP softphone - one way audio - fix

Using the Cisco IP soft phone via VPN can sometimes cause audio to drop. To fix this:

Right click the Cisco IP Phone and select Preferences...
Select the Audio tab
Click on the Network button
In Audio IP Address select Use this address
then set it back to Detect Automatically
Click OK and OK again.

Give it 5-10 seconds and this will auto reset the audio on the IP phone and will correct the issues with one way audio.
Why can't I connect my corporate Cisco IP Phone 7941 to a switch? I can connect a switch to Cisco phone switch and connect multiple devices. But the phone will only work when connected directly to the wall...

Connecting a hub or switch to the "PC" port on the back of the phone is not a recommended best practice by Cisco as the IP phone does not support spanning tree protocol.

Confirm if the Phone has power supply. and If it's connected to a POE switch confirm that it connects to the Switch port on the phone.

Cisco IP phone 7941-- No power on the phone just a blank screen after I installed a headset, I did unplug the headset but is not coming back on.I also tried a new Ethernet cable but no luck. What can I do...

Is the phone connected to a POW (Power Over Ethernet)Cisco Switch? Check the model number of the switch with the Cisco web site www.cisco.com

Have you check whether there is power available on the switch?
enter "show power inline" at the command prompt.

Does the phone work without the head set?
Does the same thing happen when you plug in the head set on another phone?

7906G Home VOIP installation Problem

Then you need power adapter for Cisco 7960 IP phone ( -40V DC).
Cisco phones work best with Cisco, and sometimes ONLY Cisco switches.

One question which voice gateway you will use for your 7960 VoIP phone calls to go through ?
(AT&T probably supports only their IP Phones with special and usually hidden settings from end user)

Not able to getting video from Remote far end.

Is the Indian site within the firewall? If so, I would focus on the firewall. Does the US site have a firewall? They may be blocking outbound traffic. If you are connecting but no video, it sounds like UDP traffic is still being blocked somewhere. If you can, you may want to assign public IPs on the units and test outside of the firewall.

Hope this helps..

My client has Cisco 7940 IP phones and wants assistance with feature programming

This phone can be access through a menu/ setting buttons.

Useful link on how to navigate through the phone:

I think the main problem is to determine the intergrated router or Call manager configuration
You can also connect on switch and type:show cpd neighbor This will show the physical port connections
