Question about Audio Players & Recorders
I JUST GOT A RCA STAV-3880 FOR CHEAP. IT DOES NOT SHOW ANY TYPE OF BUTTONS ON THE PANEL TO INDICATE ANY TYPE OF FIMILIAR AJUSTMENTS AVAILABLE. I DIDN'T GET THE REMOTE. WHEN I ATTEMPTED TO HOOK UP MY DVD PLAYER RCA, THE OPTICAL LIGHT ON THE DVD PLAYER IS ILLUMINATED. THE RECIEVER ISN'T. THIS MAKES ME BELIEVE IT ISN'T READY TO RECIEVE SIGNAL. QUESTION... DO SOME RECIEVERS NEED THE REMOTE TO MAKE NECESSARY AJUSTMENTS? ALL I GET IS ANALOG...NO DIGITAL. THK FOR ANYONES INPUT.
1. Plug the toslink optical cable into optical input #2
2. Push the CDR/Tape button so the screen says CDR/Tape
3. Press the signal select button so the left hand side of the screen where it says "signal select" says digital.
4. Press the speakers button so just SP>A is lit up.
This should get sound out of the unit using the front buttons and the optical inputs.
If you have SP>B or SP>AB lit up you will not get 5.1 stereo, only stereo. No center channel, sub, etc.

I have found that on some units you unfortunately need the remote for more advanced settings. Sorry man.
