It could be that the knob came off and someone pushed it back on in the wrong location. Knobs are keyed so they should only go on one way, but since most knobs are plastic and can get messed up fairly easily, you might want to pull the knob off and see if that is the issue.

You might need to get a new knob if yours has gotten a broken socket where it slips onto the control shaft.

Hope this helps. Best Regards!

It is also possible that the timer mechanism is faulty and the timer motor is no longer working properly. So when in the last position, right before the "off" position, the dryer will operate. You can try some of the other non-timed settings (if your's has sensor drying option) to see if the dryer runs. If it doesn't work in any other selectable drying cycle, it is most likely that the timer control is bad and needs to be replaced. Hope this helps! Best Regards!

The dryer will not heat up

Instructions
    • 1 Check the cycle selector control to make sure a heating cycle has been selected. The selector should be in an "Off" position when not in use, but it should be turned to a drying cycle when in use. On some models, make sure you are not accidentally running the dryer on the "Air" cycle, which does not use heat.
    • 2 Check the gas supply valve to make sure it is open if your dryer is a gas dryer. If it is not open, just lift the valve open.
    • 3 Look at your house's main breaker box to determine whether a circuit breaker is tripped. The electric dryer runs on 220-240 volts and has a double breaker. If the breaker for the heating element is tripped, the drum may tumble the clothes without heat. Turn the dryer's breakers to off, then back on; test whether the dryer will produce heat.
    • 4 Consult a technician if troubleshooting does not resolve the problem.

My dryer continues to run, it won't shut off. When the dryer door is shut it continues to run. When the timer is in the ''OFF'' position the timer runs through to the next cycle.

Hellow, If your dryer continues to run when in the off position you nee a new timer dial switch. I hope this helped you out. It would be greatly appreciated if you coud rate my answer. Thanks Mike-

Kenmore 80 series dryer stoping after running for 10 to 15 minute

Start any cycle. Dryer runs for 10 to 15 minutes, then stops before cycle is complete. Start again, stops again in 10 to 15 minutes.
