Question about Kenmore 57029 Side by Side Refrigerator

1 Answer

Filtered water My water dispenser has always been very slow to react.  When the switch was hit the light would come on and after a while ~10 sec, you could tell that it was about to dispense when it started humming.  Here lately the the thing doesn't even dispense.  I can wait about a minute and it still won't dispense.  It is a 363.59522996.  I replaced the filter a couple of weeks ago to no avail. Thanks for any help.

The water line that run through the freezer door is frozen. its been a common problem on the GE built refrigerators. (that who built yours for sears) dis connect the water hose hehind the kick plate below the freezer door. use a hair dryer to warm up the inside and outside of the door around the dispenser area to defrost the line. it will take anywhere from 15 to 30 min to get in completly defrosted but it will once it is defrosted

The pump runs for 1 or 2 sec and stops then a min or so later runs for a sec or 2 and stop again

If the water in the pan is slow to drain then possibly a restriction in the pan outlet or the membrane is slow to react to the water pressure, lastly if it is old and noisy the motor windings are damaged so in this case could be time for a new pump.

Hello there, when new filters are fitted usually they are expected to spurt for a little bit before they normalize and begin to flow properly. Dispense water continuously for 10 minutes. This usually arises when the flow of water through the unit not being allowed through properly and usually takes the new filter a couple of minutes to get accustomed to the water flow and get water circulating through all its components hence the spurts. Alternatively you can check to ensure that the water supply is turned on full and the filter is properly fitted. If all of these are in place then the dispense mechanism might be faulty.

Don't know which filter you use, so this might not work. Try reversing the filter to see if it got installed incorrectly.

If not, make sure the the water line didn't get kinked and that the valve is open.

I have a leaky spigot what can I do

If the spigot means the end of the water tube in the water dispenser, and it steadily drips even if the dispenser is not used for 10 minutes or so - replace the water valve. If the dispenser drips water mostly wright after you used it - you might have some air bubbles in the refrigerator water tubing.

Slow filter water stream and hollow ice.

You have a mesh screen in the water supply line where it connects to the water inlet valve. It can be stopped up with sediment.
