AVR-1800 Stopped outputing sound. I tried resetting the processor by holding A and B system buttons and turning on main power. Display did not flash as described in manual, so tried several times. Then I turn it on and it worked. Turned it off and back on and can't get it to work again, even with resets. Thinking it's got to be a firmware problem. Any help much appreciated!

SOURCE: The left side main output won't put out any sound.

connect your right speaker cable to the left output, if the sound comes out then the problem is on the left speaker ( the cable or the speaker itself ), but if still no sound, then the problem is on the power output of the unit, need to repair them

Processor Reset
If the AVr behaves erratically after a power surge, first turn off the front-panel
main
power switch and unplug the Ac power cord for at least 3 minutes. plug the cord back
in and turn the AVr on. If this procedure doesn't help, reset the AVr's processor as

notes in the Appendix worksheets.

To reset the AVR's processor:

1. press the front-panel Standby/on switch to place the unit in the Standby mode (the
Standby Indicator led will turn amber).

No sound regardless of input. front panel lights up and functions as per inputs however also noticed pwr supply fan and internal heat sink fan do NOT turn on. Any debugging tips appreciated! Thank You...

The power supply has to be on to some extent or it wouldn't light up.

Does it tune FM? That would indicate some life.

No sound? Is it Muted or a tape Monitor selected inadvertently?

I cant get any sound out of my Harman kardon AVR 340 receiver even after reseting it, all the functions work fine its just not producing any sound out of the speakers. Please Help?

Hi,

If you bought the extended warranty, you need to go where you purchased it and they can look it up on their computer system.

Is the speakers defective, or not present (connected), check all cables

Thanks.

Says protect

Probably some speaker wires got shorted or the output stages freaked out and the cpu went into protect mode. Normally plugging it out of and in to the wall socket should/could reset it.

First check all wiring at the speaker outputs and on the speakers
then if it still wont startup you could try the avr-1500 method with
some trial and error pressing of buttons.

avr-1500 reset method:
Unplug the unit from the wall, hold down both video select and audio select at the same time, plug it back in. Keep holding both buttons for 2 secs, unit will reboot. As you have no audio select button on your avr-1100 you might try pressing video select and another key to see if this will reboot it.
