It means the airflow is blocked somewhere. Check all the places it could be:
1. The brushhead - dismantle it. Take off the bottom plate and take the roller out. Clean everything - fluff and hairs wrapped round anything (including the pin in one end of the roller
2. the bottom joint
3. the pole
4. just after the pole joins the main body. There is a rubber flap inside - make sure it can open and close
5. empty the usual dust chamber
6. Press that release button again and the whole clear chamber comes off the motor unit. Clean inside, including clean the mesh with a damp cloth
7. The final air filter - pull it out. The cloth part can be removed from its inner plastic frame. Remove any fluff and wash thoroughly. Leave to dry before re-assembling

My dyson V6 keeps pulsing on and off

It could be the filters need cleaned or replaced. Try turning it on without the filters on it, if it doesn't pulse on and off it may mean the filters are restricted and need cleaned or replaced. Do not use the vacuum without filters.

Have 1 year old hand held v6 motorhead. When pressing the trigger to start. The unit surges on and off repeatedly on a 1 second pulse. How do this get corrected

Hello, this is Ava with Think Crucial.

There are a number of reasons why your Dyson cleaner is pulsating off and on. First, it can be due to a battery of the cleaner. Make sure that the power cable is properly plug to the power and seated properly from the unit while charging. If you find that the battery isn't charging at all, you may need to replace the battery. Second is to check the MAX button of your cleaner. If the button lights up and flashes when your Dyson keeps on pulsating, press and hold the power button and depress the MAX button to turn off the function. You may need to do it for a few times to get the hang of it. Third is to check for any blockages or clogs in the attachments. Look down through the tube and check to see if there are clogs on the sweeper end or if the roller is tangled up in fibers. Clean the roller brush are if it it's necessary. You may need to empty the dust bin of your unit as debris can build up in hard to reach places. Lastly, cleaning the filters may fix the pulsating of your cleaner. Remove the filter and rinse it with cold water and air dry it for 12 hours. Don't use detergent when washing your filters. If the pulsating doesn't go with the given quick fix, I suggest to contact Dyson for further assistance on this.

if fitting/ removing the filter makes a change ( filters no nothing but filter air), then the problem is the filter

Dyson V6 Animal keeps start and stopping.

Hi there, it's Jack at Dyson.

Your Dyson V6 vacuum is designed to make a pulsing noise to warn you when something is preventing airflow from passing through the machine. This could be a blockage in the motorised floor tool, wand or bin inlet. It's also a good idea to check the bin inlet flap can open and close freely, and isn't jammed in place.

Our video support guide will walk you through the simple troubleshooting checks:

I'm confident that removing any blockages and checking the bin inlet flap will resolve the issue with your machine. But if you would like any further help, just give the Dyson Customer Helpline a call on 1-866-693-9766 (US), 1-877-397-6622 (CA) 1800 239 766 (AU), or 0800 298 0298 (UK).

Recently purchased a Dyson V6 Cordless Vacuum, which has fallen several times now. Since the last fall when pushing down on the power button the noise is intermittent. Why is this?

Hi Julia, it's Jack at Dyson.

Just to make you aware, accidental damage resulting from a drop or a fall would not be covered under your Dyson warranty, so please take care to avoid this wherever possible.

If your Dyson V6 pulses on and off when you hold the trigger down, the motor is signalling that something is blocking airflow from passing through the machine. There could be an obstruction inside the floor tool, wand or bin inlet - but it's also worth checking the flap inside the bin inlet. The flap opens and shuts to prevent debris from escaping, but it's possible it could have jammed shut when the machine fell. Our video guide may help:

If you'd like further assistance after giving this a try, just call the Dyson Customer Helpline to speak with our experts. You can reach us on 0800 298 0298 (UK), 1-866-693-9766 (US), 1-877-397-6622 (CA) or 1800 239 766 (AU).
