How do I restore deleted partition on SSD drive?

I accidentally deleted my operating system partition on my DELL PC SSD model XLS 8700 win10 OS. May have backup on other drive but can't access.

  • Anonymous Apr 13, 2018

    you never said,
1: just to get my lost data
2: no data, just want the OS back.
    3: both.

    matters.
q1: what partition, the recovery partitions?
or c:/windows, or all the others for windows?
details matter, for the best solution.
if just ,need OS back. only
get the dell install disks and reInstall OS.

    2 choices.
1: GET THE INSTALL MEDIA FROM DELL
2: BUY W10 FROM MS AND START OVER.

I'D BET ALL DATA THERE IS GONE.
how ever expensive police forensic software can get some of it, but killing partitions,
sure the data is there but is all just random now, no rhyme or reason or structures.

SOURCE: deleted dell system restore partition

Dell usually supplies all the cd disks your computer was set up to use. the Win xp restore disk will reformat your hard drive with the original partition. I have a dell 4600C desktop and all my original stuff is on the burgundy win xp disk. the auxillary stuff is on the blue cd-s.

SOURCE: Dell Optiplex GX150 Factory Settings Restore Partition...

This is from the Dell support site. You were correct in pressing ctrl+f11 but perhaps you did not press at the correct time. If in following these first two steps you do not get the recovery console, it may not have been installed on your computer.

1 Turn on the computer.
2 When the Dell splash screen appears during the computer startup process, press and hold <Ctrl> and then press <F11>. Then, release both keys at the same time.
3 In the Dell PC Restore by Symantec window, click Restore. Alternatively, press <Tab> to highlight Restore, and then press <Enter>.
4 When a warning message appears stating that all data will be lost, click Confirm, or press <Tab> to highlight Confirm and then press <Enter>.

The Progress window will appear. Once the restore process starts, Dell PC Restore by Symantec usually takes about 8 to 10 minutes to finish.

When the restore process is complete, the following message will appear:
The system recovery process was successful.
5 Click Finish or press <Tab> to highlight Finish and then press <Enter> to restart the computer.
The software is now installed as it was when the computer was first received.

SOURCE: accessing restore partition

Hi,

Most computers shipped prior to Mid 2004 do not have the restore partition (called PC restore). To check if you computer does have the restore partition, Right-click on “My computer” select “Manage”, on the left of “Computer Management” window click on “Disk Management” . On the right bottom, if you see three partitions (the third one without a drive letter) then you have the restore partition.

The following two steps will work only if you have the PC restore partition / OR if you have not reinstalled the operating system previously.
To get into the PC restore (if you have it) hold down <control> + tap F11, when the computer turns on, I,e after the Dell logo.
The second and simpler option (if you can login to the computer) is to download, save and run the following file http://tech.atjolie.com/BOOT_DSR.EXE . The will restore the computer in the PC restore option.

If both these do not work, reinstallation using the Win XP cd is the only option

Hope this helps. Please rate your feedback!
Thanks,
VJ

Hello, can anyone explain the right process to move operating system to an SSD?

Some third-party migration software does work! Here I recommend free software AOMEI Partition Assistant Standard. It can move your Windows 10 to the new SSD easily and safely. You can boot from the SSD by changing the order in BIOS.Check the detailed guide following:

How to recover Office Document Files

Documents such as Word files, Excel spreadsheets, PowerPoint presentations, Access databases and a wide range of other titles are among the most valuable to their users. Unlike photographs that can be snapped in an instant, it takes a lot of time to create a document. And it only takes a single moment to lose it.

http://www.fixya.comwrite_tip-wyytcj10vubwvpdmj0eoj2yx-1-0_1.jpg

Undeleting Document Files

Accidentally deleting an important document (*.doc, *.docx, *.pdf), presentation (*.ppt) or spreadsheets (*.xls, *.xlsx) can happen to anyone. End of a working day or a busy week can and do lead to human errors, making people delete documents instead of archiving or sending them.
Fortunately, recovering a deleted file is fairly simple if you act fast. If you deleted a document, Windows will not actually erase its content. Instead, the system will simply mark its record in the file system as "deleted", allowing you to reverse this operation with a proper tool.

Safety Data Recovery

To undelete a document, download Hetman Uneraser. However, it's best if you can use another PC do download the product, as writing anything, including the data recovery program, to the disk that contains deleted files may actually overwrite their content, making the files unrecoverable.
After downloading the tool, install it onto a disk other than one that contains the deleted files. If you have no such disk, use a USB flash drive. Run Hetman Uneraser and perform a quick disk scan. More often than not, you'll see your file in the list after a brief moment. If the file you deleted does not appear in the list, you'll have to run the full scan. The complete scanning of your hard disk may take a while to complete, as the tool will be analyzing all sectors on your hard drive in order to locate deleted documents even if they no longer appear in the file system.
When you see your file in the list, you can click on it to see a preview. Sometimes you'll see multiple copies of the same file. The preview will help you pick the least damaged one or the latest copy saved.

Corrupted or Formatted Disk

If your documents are stored on a disk that's been damaged, corrupted, accidentally formatted or repartitioned, you'll need a different tool. Download Hetman Partition Recovery from site. This tool will be able to scan the damaged disk in order to locate all document files that are still available.
With formatted, repartitioned and corrupted disks, the quick scan mode is of little use. More often than not you'll be better served by the slower full scan mode. The rest of the process is very similar to that described for Hetman Uneraser.

A Word on SSD Drives

If your documents were stored on an SSD drive, your chances of getting them back are rather low. SSD's employ a number of techniques to improve their performance and longevity, basically cleaning up everything that's been deleted. If you format an SSD drive, it'll physically erase data, making the files unrecoverable. If you delete a file, the TRIM command will clean up disk space that was used by that file. There's little hope with SSD drives, but there are important exceptions:
  • Exception 1: if your SSD drive became damaged or corrupted, the garbage collection algorithms will not engage, and the actual content of the disk will remain recoverable. Use Hetman Partition Recovery to scan the disk and recover the documents.
  • Exception 2: if your SSD drive was connected via a USB cable at the time it was formatted or a document was deleted, the TRIM command will not be issued, and your files will remain recoverable. Use Hetman Uneraser or Hetman Partition Recovery to recover the documents.
  • Exception 3: if you were using the SSD drive with a version of Windows older than Windows 7 (e.g. Windows XP or Vista), the TRIM command will not be issued, and the files will remain recoverable.

I need key for driver restore

Davis,
You can restore the system to factory conditions by following the information below.
Dell Factory Image Restore The Dell Factory Image Restore tool replaces PC Restore. Access it from the F8 boot menu.
Start the computer and TAP the F8 key. Once the options appear on the screen you can choose Repair Your Computer and follow the prompts to restore the computer to factory conditions.
CAUTION:
This utility formats the operating system hard drive partition prior to restoring the factory image. This means data on that partition is deleted and cannot be recovered.
If the customer creates a second partition with a third-party utility, Dell Factory Image Restore is not affected as long as the image partition is not removed.

Can you please give me step by step insturctions on how to totally wipe my hardrive on my dell latitude 600? Then I will refoat it back to its orignal settings. thank You

Unless you're donating the drive, there's no need to do anything before re-installing the OS. When Windows asks where you want to install the OS to, you'll see an option for formatting the drive first.
If you are donating it and are worried about someone recovering the data (after formatting and re-installing, it's not something the average tech can do) I'd recommend booting the laptop off CD/USB drive with this image (http://www.ultimatebootcd.com/) and running one of the Hard Disk Wiping utilities. Mind you, some of the very thorough ones (military-grade) can take DAYS.
