I can't get my ipod to restore!

My ipod crashed and needs to be restored. When I plug it in and connect to Itunes, it lets me hit the restore button but it stops in the process with error 1439. I have followed all of the error instructions on the apple site to fix this problem, but none of them have worked! Help!!

Well..I tried your solution...but with still no luck. When I go into the format menu for the ipod...it won't let me change the settings to exactly what u had said...although it did let me do a quick format and it seemed to be successful. I also plugged another Ipod in this morning to restore it and after almost completing the restore...it stopped and gave me the same error...1439. I tried your solution for this I pod also...but no luck :( Any other suggestions?

I'm assuming you will be able to see everything we already tried. I just can't imagine that both my ipods are faulty. The one is almost brand new. :( To me it sounds like something needs to be changed with my computer or I Tunes...what do u think?

  • mandyblaschk Aug 04, 2009

I have all of the latest versions. Just to be sure, I re installed I Tunes...and still nothing. It gets more than half way thru the restoration and then brings up the error!

Hello Mandy,

Please try plugging it into a different USB port. Some of the users have this problem and doing this solution fixed their problems.

If you still have issues after this, please do not hesitate to comment back.

You have not mentioned your existing version of your ipod I'd suggest you to download this version and upgrade your version. This will solve your problem.

Seems like the file system on the unit is corrupt. Let's try to fix it.

  1. Plug the iPod to your computer
  2. Turn on the iPod
  3. Go to Start > Computer (or My Computer)
  4. Find the iPod in the window and right-click on it and choose Format
  5. For File system, choose NTFS
  6. For allocation size choose 4096 bytes
  7. Tick the Quick Format box
  8. Click the Start button to begin the format
  9. Once complete, accept the box saying the format is complete
  10. Connect the iPod to the iTunes software as you usually do and attemp to restore the files again
If the same error happens, try the above one more time, as it usually fixes the issue a second time round.

    Thanks for your reply.

If my suggestion did not working it does sound very much like a faulty iPod, or faulty memory to be specific. I'm afraid at this point it would need repair.

My ipod is disabled for 2206332 minutes

You are going to need a computer with the latest version of iTunes on it
So with the device plugged into your PC, iTunes open, if it shows up in iTunes eject it, or cancel the prompt to restore a device in recovery mode.

Hold down the Power button for 3 seconds

Without releasing the power button, also hold the Home button for 10 seconds

Without releasing the home button, release the power button and keep holding the Home button for About 20 seconds.

iTunes will detect an iPod/iPhone in recovery mode, let off button and set down device and hit RESTORE in iTunes.

Ipod is disabled connect to itunes

This happens some times when the soft ware crashes. It is not generally a problem with the ipod directionally. You just need to restore the ipod, and this will put a new version of the software on.

Once at the computer you will need itunes open and your ipod connected

1) Make sure you have the latest vertion of itunes downloading
you can check this by going to { HELP>CHECK FOR UPDATES}

2) On the ipod hold the sleep wake button at the top and the home button on the bottom at the same time until you see the apple logo

3) Once you see the apple logo - release the sleep/wake button but remain holding the home button

4) You will see an error message from your computer
f53db07.jpg

5) click ok - Then the restore button - the restore will take about 15- 20 minutes

Note: if you have previously backed up the ipod it will prompt you to restore from back up in the restore process

6) re - sync your content after the restore is complete

7) after sync disconnect and use

I hoped this helped-

** NOTE: If you get an error while restoring the ipod try and restore from another computer ***

Ipod stuck on Connect to Itunes

    Complete a Regular Restore
  1. Back up your iPod Touch's data to your computer before the restore to prevent losing data. You'll need to reinstall it after the restore process.
  2. Connect to the Internet and install the latest version of iTunes from the Apple website.
  3. Make sure your iPod Touch is connected to your computer.
  4. Pick "iPod Touch" in the Source pane of the iTunes program.
  5. Click on the Summary tab.
  6. Choose "Check for Update."
  7. Select "Restore" and follow the instructions to finish restoring your iPod Touch.
  8. Complete an Advanced Restore
  9. If following the steps in the previous section did not work, follow these steps to perform an advanced restore. Turn off the power on the iPod Touch.
  10. Plug the iPod Touch into your computer.
  11. Power on the iPod Touch.
  12. Press the "Home" and "Sleep/Wake" buttons together for 5 seconds until the Apple logo appears.
  13. Release the "Sleep/Wake" button but continue holding down the "Home" button. The iPod Touch should reboot, and iTunes will notice the iPod Touch in recovery mode.
  14. Return to the above section and follow those steps to restore your iPod Touch.

Ipod touch says its disabled

Use the cable included with your iPod touch to connect the device with your computer. Plug the fat end into your iPod touch and the longer end into your computer.

8GB iPod Touch Disabled

you will have to restore your ipod to factory default settings in itunes.
or you can jailbreak the ipod with software like quickpwn.

Here is how to restore your ipod in itunes.
You will need to put the itouch in DFU/Recovery mode to get it to connect.

Normal 0 MicrosoftInternetExplorer4 /* Style Definitions */ table.MsoNormalTable {mso-style-name:"Table Normal"; mso-tstyle-rowband-size:0; mso-tstyle-colband-size:0; mso-style-noshow:yes; mso-style-parent:""; mso-padding-alt:0in 5.4pt 0in 5.4pt; mso-para-margin:0in; mso-para-margin-bottom:.0001pt; mso-pagination:widow-orphan; font-size:10.0pt; font-family:"Times New Roman";} Plug the usb cable into the Ipod and NOT into the computer.
Hold the Home Button down for 5 second (do not release it)
Then Press and hold the Power Button for approx 10 secs (count them out)
Your iPod will reboot.
Release the power button and continue holding the Home button for an additional 27secs.
You may see the screen go blank or not.
Plug the USB end into the computer with itunes open.
Your ipod will mount in recovery mode.
Restore it and Your all set.

if you need any further help let me know.
Good Luck

My nano won't restore.

When you hook your iPod up, go to my computer and see if it shows as a drive. If so, Right Click on the drive and click "Format" Once this is done, Put the ipod in disk mode and connect it to itunes.
Restore as before and see if you get results.

I suspect you may have been using a dock when it crashed, if so you may never get it back. Docks are very harsh on the ipod motherboards. especially the Nano gen 3 and the Ipod Video 5th gen.

If this helps, please leave a vote on fixya

My Computer and iTunes does not recognize my iPod

I think what needs to happen is you need to restore.

Hold down the sleep and home buttons until you see the apple logo. As soon as that comes up, let go of the sleep button, but keep the home button held down.

A little picture saying you need to plug your iPod in iTunes should appear after a couple seconds. Let go of home and plug your iPod into the computer now.

When iTunes says you need to restore, do so. It will take some time to restore the iPod after you have given iTunes the command to do so.

Get a snack, and a drink... You might be here for a little while.

Itouch unlock password

if you do not know your passcode then make sure it is plugged in 2 the cp and make sure the itouch is on the screen where it says enter passcode. then you hold the power and home button at the same time until the itouch completely turns off and then you keep on holding both buttons until the apple logo again. and after that appears, you let go of the power button but you keep holding the home button until the itouch says its connected to itunes. and then you are allowed to access it on itunes. then you need to restore it and it will restore ur hole ipod and there will not be a passcode anymore
