Traditionally Electrolux motors are reliable and long lasting but these days who knows who makes what.
What happens with sickening regularity is the cleaner loses suction and the filters are removed to provide a boost and then the bag bursts and the muck and dust goes through the motor - seriously bad news for an Electrolux.
When a vacuum stops, about 7 times out of 10 the power cord has developed an internal break, 2 times out of 10 the switch has failed and 1 time out of 10 something else has failed, such as the thermal breaker or fuse or maybe the motor, even then it might be repairable - after extended service the brushes wear out for instance.
Hi, check the troubleshooting on page 19 of the manual. I does,'t mention a reset button but I would imagine that it has a self-resetting thermal switch which could take half an hour for the motor to cool down (fairly common).
the dials refer to types of dirt. The higher the dial the heavier the dirt. This is for the auto shut off when the bag is full. The best setting is in the middle. If you are vacuuming up fine dust suck in some Kleenex before this will coat the bag and prevent premature shu toff.
it may be over heating.Check to make sure your hose and power nozzle are not plugged..Simply turning machine on without the hos then putting hose on while running and see if the motor sounds different,ie.winding up higher.....if this doesn't help try changing the bag
You need to look under AERUS Electrolux to find a Dealer with parts. Electrolux USA sold the brand name back to AB Electrolux of Sweden a few years ago and there is no relation between the two. You may also find a common component of a different color at a Tri Star dealer as they shared some power head and hose technology in the era of the EPIC although they don`t tell people that
The thermal switch should reset itself after it has cooled. If it still won't restart after a while longer, put a a new bag in the machine and turn the machine off and back on. The only other things that should keep it from running other than the thermal overload, is the bag being full or the bag not being present. Either of these faults would need to be corrected and then the machine switched off and back on to clear them. I hope this helps. Good Luck!!
Electrolux Canister - Stops working after 1-2... Our vac works for a short time, then shuts off and makes clicking noise as if trying to restart again. Works after cooling for a while but for another very short time. Your suggestion on fix would be greatly appreciated. Thanks I would advise you to ALWAYS to FIRST UNPLUG YOUR VACUUM before beginning any service procedure
I would advise that it could be a thermal switch or a regular switch that the thermal switch is over heating and needs replacement – there are small hoses in the door section that could have been pinched or kinked and it stopping the air flow from the vacuum – also check for a clogged or plugged vacuum hose, a full vacuum bag or a dirty vacuum filter. Check the thermal switch or reg switch or the hoses in the door. Or feel free to contact your local vacuum dealer in your area or in the yellow pages, or call the factory @ the phone number listed below: http://electrolux.comCustomer Service Electrolux Home Care Products – North America PO Box 3900Peoria, IL61612 1-800-896-9756
