Gigabyte ga946GMX-s2 sometime power on sometime not

Hello the mainboards homepage is here:

Try to renew the power supply, and check all the connections on the mainboard, for any loose cables.

The fault could also be a ram module failing.
Or the power button.

Any beep codes when, it not powers on ??
Try also to download the manual.
Please take antistatic precautions when working on the mainboard.

Good luck

No video out

If you get a beep when you turn on the computer that means its working, multiple beeps indicate an error, no beeps at all mean that the processor is not initiliazing..

turn off computer and unplug it
1.) locate the jumper called or labled jp1
2.) its a 2 pin jumper and is currently set to 1 and 2
3) set it to 3 and 4
4.) set it back to 1 and 2
5.) try turning on the system

if you cant locate the jumper or yours is different what we are trying to achieve here is clearing the cmos. this can be done using the jumper or

1.) unplug your system
2.) remove the memory
3.) remove the battery
4.) press the power button 5 times to discharge the capicators
5.) replace batter
6.) replace memory

Try booting it now

if the above fails

try taking out your processor and putting it back in
if your mainboard has a clockspeed setting ensure it is set according to your porcessor clock speed (look at manual for details)

ensure you got all the necessary power cables connected

If you had the problem before you changed our processor then it night have been your mainboard that needs changing.

If you have a video card, ensure that the monitor is plugged into your videocard and not the onboard video the mainboard comes with.

Try your processor on another system to ensure its working, just cause it new doesnt mean it is good.

You can try clearing the cmos multiple times with the memory pluged in or without the memory to see if that helps

if all else fails then ensure you check the processor , only if the processor is good replace your main board..

I unplugged the little cables in the F_PANEL to the right bottom in my GIGABYTE GA-G41M-COMBO motherboard and the CPU is working after i reconnected them the but nothing appears on the monitor i hear the...

The problem most likely isn't with your f_panel your motherboard should have a manual that tells you how to plug everything into your f_panel correctly.
Ensure that there are no empty power connections on your motherboard. You board may not be powering its video component. If you have a graphics card, ensure if it requires a power connect that it is properly plugged in.
If this doesn't work I suggest your return your motherboard as it is not functioning properly.

My display do not tern on

If you unplug the signal cable from the mainboard, does the monitor display the message "no signal" or any similar? If yes, then try to unplug connected components to the mainboard (hard drive, optical unit) and see if pc starts. If no change, unplug power cord and remove the CMOS battery for about 20 seconds then try again.

Hi Leslie,
It could be your power supply is dead. The 4 cable wire is the 12v axillary power supply for the graphics. When unplugged you will get no graphics when plugged in nothing will work if that rail of the power supply is faulty. Hank

Did you try the simple fix? First thing is to unplug the computer and then push the power button. Plug the computer back in and then hit the power button again. Did it start? Hopefully. If not and its a desktop, take the side cover off and look at the mainboard. Are the capacitors all flat on top? If any of the capacitors are bulging on top your mainboard is probably going to need to be replace. If not, pull the power connector off of the mainboard. Now take a technicians secret tool (paper clip) and bend it around in a loop and connect the green and one black wire from that connector. This will automatically turn the power supply on if its not defective. This is the simplest of tests for the power supply and will not tell you if you are getting the correct voltages but it will at least let you know if it works at all. Sometimes the fan will come on but the fan will turn slower than usual. This indicates a bad power supply as well. If the power supply is not the problem, plug the power supply back in and unplug all the drives from the mainboard. Now try to power up the computer. If it still doesnt start, remove your RAM and try to power up. If that doesnt work remove all the plug in cards. Try to power up again. If that doesnt work then its probably the Mainboard or CPU.

Hope this helps. If it does please rate it. Thanks...

No boot or wake up

Chances are you need to change the power supply,, but first you need to check to see if its workingm this is quite easy

1.) unplug it
2.) remove the power connector from the main board
3.) on the power connector is a green wire(ONLY ONE) and right next to it is a blact wire(any black will work)
4.) use a peper clip or unisulated wire to bridge the green and black wire by inserting it into the jack contacts.
5.) plug in the power supply, if the fans spins then its working..

If the power supply is fine then you will need to check the power button connectors *wire from power button that connects to the main board),, if the connection is fine, then unjack the connectors and use a bladed screwdriver to bridge the pins for the power button connector on the main board,it should boot up. If not then you need to have that mainboard replaced
