Question about Washing Machines

1 Answer

Water is coming out from under my machine during spin cycle. LOTS of water. I'm going to check my drain hose, but wonder if I need to take off the front of the washer?

No, you do not need to take off the front of the washer. This usually means a drain hose or the drain itself is clogged up or backed up. When the tub spins the water will naturally go over the top of the tub and splash out.

I have a frigidaire washing machine and it spins out just a small amout of water during the cycle, not a lot , have checked the pump and it works, just wondering if it could possibly be the lid lock

It would not agitate if it were the lid lock, just as agitation should stop when you open the lid during cycles. More likely it's something blocking the drain hose. Here is a link to an excellent online repair manual. Click on the picture of the wash machine, then go to chapter 2. Then have a look at Section 2-3.

Washing machine leaks during spin and drain cycle

If the leak is still present after you replace the hoses , you may need to get a new water pump ( cheap part ) it is probably leaking , it removes the dirty water from the washer during spin and rinse cycle . hope this helps

Machine won't spin

If water remains in the drum the unit will not go into the final spin. There may be a couple of reasons which I have experienced resulting in your problem. If water remains in the tub the unit will not go into the high speed spin.
1.) A coin or other foreign object is blocking the drain hose. Check the drain hose for foreign objects impeding the exit of the water. Shake the hose and listen for coins or a small object this unit will pass items through the pump into the hose causing blockage.
2.) The Drain hose is not raised above the machine outlet to create a siphon effect. See your manual for proper hose positioning. The hose needs to have a loop in it to work correctly.
3.) The pump is a third possibility which you should hear the impeller spinning during the drain cycle. There is a coin catch after the diaphragm of the pump that looks like a rubber boot that should be inspected for objects if you remove the pump. The pump is about $60.00 and is accessible after removing the front panel under the door. It is easy access from the front and the hose clamps will be the most difficult problem. I have a ratcheting hose clamp tool designed for this type of clamp but channel lock pliers will work.

Water leaks during final spin cycle only

Hi,
The first thing to do is get the machine up off the floor onto a base that allows you to slide under machine on your back with a flash light. Make sure whatever you decide to lift machine up onto is very stable and durable. Bricks, blocks, or a utility cart maybe. You need to look under machine to see where the leak is coming from. You want to make sure it is not going to fall on you. The machine is not that heavy, just awkward to lift or move because of it's size. So, you could slide something under each corner, one at a time, or ask a friend to help lift it onto a base. Now you are ready to go. Don't worry, this is really easy.
Get a towel, flashlight, and start machine on a small load with shortest cycle set.(probably delicate). After you start machine, slide under and and try to find where water is leaking from. The pump is going to be a plastic circular shape thing with ridges on outside. Probably dead front center and attached to motor. If water is leaking anywhere from plastic circle thing, then this is your problem. BUT, also follow all the black hoses that are under machine. Sometimes leak can be a cracked hose or loose attachment. That is real cheap and easy. The hoses are attached with metal ring deals. You take a pair of channel locks or big pliers and squeeze them to open. There are 2 or 3 hoses that attach to pump that will need to be removed if this is where leak is coming from. Then, the pump is only attached with metal clips that you pull out to release pump from motor. No tools needed. Take the pump to sears or local appliance shop and I guarantee they will have replacement.

There is a large hose that runs from the basin to the pump. I would recommend checking this hose from the pump to the basin.  It is probably plugged in there as well as in the pump inpellor.  look under the machine to find the pump.. White/clearish plastic with 2 large hoses running to it

Washer will not Spin during SPIN CYCLES

Check your exit hose spigot, it may be clogged. This is if your filter is all clean. (consult your manual to know where/how filter is cleaned). There should be air for passage in the standpipe behind. Your hose should not fit airtight into the standpipe and neither too deep into it. Snaking out your standpipe would be good too.

Rate me pl.....if helped.

Kenmore quietpak2 no longer rinse, drain, spin

Sounds like the pump, eighter blocked or needs new pump.Place outlet hose in to bucket to drain, if no water comes out its blocked, if water flows freely possible needs new pump.
