It is not the belt. If I hold the drum and stop the free spin it will oscilate for a few seconds then start up the spin once more

Either a broken belt or the drive gear is stuck in spin mode If you are not a handy person who can take the back off and look/fix you will need to call in a service tech

OK but it is definitely in the drive function. When you hang on to it it acts correctly for a short time and then starts slipping again. If this unit has been overloaded at anytime it can cause the drive to slip which eventlally allows the drum to spin in the wash cycle. The push pull motion of the drive is either slipping or damaged. I feel that your best option is to have it looked at and rectified by an onsite mechanic. As much as you may not want to spend the money for this fix i doubt that your options are good to be able to rectify it yousrself

Load size dial on washer spins freely instead of moving to setting

That setting has to do with how much water is let into the drum. You can get a new switch for that. If you post the model number.

Drum knock when spin cycle

Hello.
Noises are common when using a two-in-one washer and dryer, as clicking or whirring is part of the cleaning process during the transition to the next cleaning process. The GE Spacesaver washer and dryer combo uses a top-loading washer stacked beneath the front-loading dryer, and uses an agitator that makes noises throughout the spin cycle. Although whirring or clicking is normal, other noises or malfunction indicates a problem with the washer that requires minor troubleshooting. Professional repair is necessary if the washer continues to experience problems during the spin cycle, as there may be a problem with the washer's agitator.
1 Open the washer's door and check the balance of the load's clothes. Clothes that are unevenly distributed around the agitator cause excessive shaking and result in an imbalance during the spin cycle. Reduce the load's size by removing clothing if the washer's drum is overloaded.
2 Push "Start/Pause" to pause the spin cycle and turn the washer's cycle knob to the "Off" position. Turn the knob to "Spin Only" and press "Start/Pause" to reset the cycle.
3 Turn the wrench counterclockwise or clockwise around the unit's legs to adjust the appliance's balance. The legs are adjustable with the help of a wrench to ensure the unit does not shake while in use. An unleveled unit shakes as it spins, and causes excessive squealing or rattling as it attempts to dry the clothes.
4 Touch "Start/Pause" on the front of the washer's control panel and unplug the washer/dryer unit's power cord from the electric oultlet. Wait two minutes and plug the power cord back into the electric outlet. Push "Start/Pause" to resume the spin cycle.
Thanks.

GE Washer WJRE5500GWW drum spins back and forth on agitation. Had the Shaft tube assembly replaced 10 months ago. Did it blow again?

Nah, your drum brake/clutch just started slipping. Just replace that and you'll be back to good.

Replaced broken washer belt, but drum still won't spin.

you may have a bad bearing in a pulley, could be motor coupling. Take belt off and spin motor shaft and pulley both ways if it's free, then its more than likely not the motor. Now spin the drum with belt off and see if it does the same as with the belt on if it does it has to be a bad bearing or coupling to the drum. hope this helps

Everything is working except the spin cycle

Sounds like the spin coil/brake solenoid is burnt out or broken. This is a coil situated on the motor plate under the machine with a lever attatched to it. When the machine goes into spin cycle, this solenoid pulls the brake away from the outer drum to allow the drum and agitator to spin together. The shaft that goes into this coil should move in and out freely. If tight, replace spin coil/brake solenoid.
