Have you tried replacing the battery.
Wont charge? Sometimes if the battery is totally depleted even the charge light will not go on until the battery reaches a certain level of fill. Are you sure it isnt charging? A new battery will confirm its viability to be able to deliver service in future.

I had the same problem yesterday. For me, when I plug in the unit with my computer (on standby mode) using the supplied USB cable, the charge light goes on. Yet, I still cannot turn it on. Then I leave there for 10 minutes, and then it suddenly came on, but the battery bar shows a very low level. However, the charging light went out after it turn on, meaning it is not charging!

Anyways, the solution I found is that to properly charge the unit, you need to have the computer back to normal (instead of standby or turned off). When the computer is back to normal and detected the GPS unit, the GPS will says connected to computer, and the charge light would come on as well. That is the proper way to charge it other than charging it using the car charger. After it has fully charged, you could use it again.

My Tom Tom XXL won't turn on when plugged in.

The GPS device runs off the battery ... so, you need to charge the battery (fully, or enough to power the GPS) before you start using it again. For clarity, if the battery is not charged, the GPS will not run when plugged into a power source.

My gps 1470 won t come on. I pluged it to my computer w/usb and turn it on and nothing. I plug it in to my car and it would not turn on or recharge.

Sounds like a problem with your battery. My 1700 will not start up when I connect it, if I have let my battery completely discharge. I have to leave it on charge for half an hour before it will restart. I also have had to reset it on occasion. I suggest you leave it on charge with a charger that connects to your house (120volt to 5volt adapter). If you have one for your cell phone or any other device that uses the mini USB connection, this will work on your gps.

Garmin nivi 200 won,t turn on

The mini-USB jack needs to be either resoldered or replaced. When the jack is loose, you will not be able to charge the internal battery. The jack becomes loose from overuse. The jack needs more mechanical support to the pronted circuit board. I have fixed this problem many times.
