Question about Sentry Fireproof Safe

1 Answer

The dial on my safe is not turning smoothly. It will start out ok, but about half way through the rotation, it almost seems like its binding up and gets real hard to turn for about a third to a half turn, then this repeats. Any ideas what this might be?

My Sentry 3150 safe is closed and locked and the lock/dial is stuck. The dial only turns between 20 and 25.

Engine rotation is up 1.2 aceleration. speed is only 30 km/hr

Either your brakes are binding or the transmission is slipping. Find a safe smooth surface with a slight incline and place the transmission in neutral. Release the brake and the vehicle should roll with minimal effort. If preferred, the same checks can be performed simply by safely supporting the vehicle and verifying that all the wheels roll freely with the transmission in neutral and brakes released. Transmission problems will often be accompanied by leaking fluid or burnt smell on the dipstick. Dark red fluid is an indication of burnt fluid or neglected maintenance.

What is the torque spec. for steering head, and what is the cause of loosening

Bearings break in and wear down over time. A good mechanic will adjust the steering stem bearings during the 600 mile check up. Make sure the bearings have grease. Snug up the nut so it is firm and reasonably tight (you do not want the bearings to bind) . If the steering is starting to bind back off till it turns smoothly. Hint : It is easier to feel firmness or binding if the wheel is off the ground when turning the bars. When there is a fine thread nut involved I do not think it is safe to use a torque wrench. Hand snugging can be enough to bind the system. Double check the feel after you put the wheel back down , you may have to tighten just a touch.

Hello I lost my instructions for theej351c, can you help?

1. Move control lever to OFF-CLEAR for at least 5 seconds; red indicator light will go
off, and all previous time settings will be cleared from memory. (If timer fails to set, leave in off
position for 15 minutes.)
2. Move lever to ON. RED INDICATOR will start FLASHING.
3. Check a clock; then rotate time dial clockwise at least one click, stopping at the half
hour nearest to present time. NOTE: When rotating time dial, do NOT accidentally PRESS at
the same time. (While rotating dial, keep pressure, pulling out on the dial to avoid accidentally
setting an incorrect time.)
4. Press pushbutton once to enter present time. RED INDICATOR will go OFF, present
time has now been recorded.
5. Rotate time dial clockwise to desired ON time; RED light will PULSE momentarily
with each click.
6. Press pushbutton to enter ON time; controlled light(s) will turn on.
7. Rotate dial to desired OFF time.
8. Press pushbutton to enter OFF time; controlled light(s) will now be off.
9. Repeat Steps 5-8 for each addition ON/OFF period.
10. Continue to rotate time dial for at least 24 hours from the first ON time to complete
this program, at which time the RED INDICATOR light will come ON and stay ON,
indicating timer is in AUTOMATIC mode. NOTE: Dial does not rotate automatically
after setting to indicate time of day.

I know the numbers but I don't know how many times to turn it and in what order

start at 0 counterclockwise pass the first number 3 times and stop on it the fourth. clockwise pass the next number 2 times and stop on the third, counterclockwise pass the final number once and then land on it. Finally turn the dial clockwise until the dial locks into place. In some sentry safes you do the same thing except you need to reverse the rotation.
