My Radio Shack Pro-95 Scanner has froze up. The power is on but none of the keys will work. I have tried the reset button. It says" Welcome to Dual Trunking " When it is turned on.

To unlock your Radio Shack Pro-70 Scanner, you can try the following steps:

1. Turn off the scanner by pressing and holding the "Power" button until the scanner turns off.
2. Press and hold the "Func" button while turning on the scanner again. Keep holding the "Func" button until the scanner finishes its power-up routine and the display shows "Program."
3. Use the number buttons to enter the four-digit unlock code. If you don't know the unlock code, try entering "0000," which is the default code for many Radio Shack scanners.

If all else fails, you can RESET or INITIALIZE the scannerto bring it back to normal operation.

To RESET:
- Power the scanner OFF
- Power the scanner back ON
- Insert a pointed object (paper clip, penpoint, etc.) into the RESET hole on the back of the scanner
- Gently press and then release the RESET button inside the hole.

NOTE: RESET will NOT erase the data that you've programmed into the scanner.

If RESET doesn't clear the problem, you can carry out the more drastic INITIALIZE process.

- Power the scanner OFF
- Power the scanner back ON
- Press 0 then 1 while "Welcome to Dual Trunking" is displayed.
- "Initializing Please Wait" will appear for about 2 seconds.

DO NOT power the scanner OFF until the INITIALIZE process is complete (M000 and Bank 0 Ch 00 appear on the display). The INITIALIZE procedure will reset the scanner to original factory settings and erase all data that you have programmed.

Your scanner may have had a logic "hiccup" for any one of many reasons, and a simple RESET may restore the trunking function.

RESET (will not wipe out frequencies or other programmed data):

- Turn the scanner OFF, and then then ON again.

- Insert a pointed object (paper clip, pen point, etc.) into the RESET opening on the side of the scanner, then gently press and release the RESET button inside the opening.

If the RESET doesn't solve the problem, you may need to INITIALIZ the scanner.

INITIALIZE (this action WILL delete all programmed data)
Welcome To Dual Trunking appears.

- Press 0 then 1 while Welcome to Dual Trunking is displayed. Initializing Please Wait appears for about 2 seconds.

Do not turn off the scanner until the initializing process is complete. When complete M000 will appear on the top line of the display, and Bank 0 Ch 0 will appear on the bottom line.

Hopefully one of these steps will restore the trunking. If not, the scanner may need professional help.

Reset it with a papclip inserted into the little hole on the left side of the scanner facing you.

When you first turn on the pro 95 and the dual trunking screen is still on insert (gently) a pin or straightend paper clip in the small hole just above and to the right of the external power plug. That will reset the radio. Once it is reset (wait until it finishes resetting) you may need to initialize it. Turn it off then back on, while it is still displaying the dual trunking screen press "0" and then the "1". Do not turn the radio off until the Initializing is finished.
Now re program your radio if you with to use the "SCAN" button. Other wise you should be able to use the "search" button to select the service you wish to listen to.

Are you pressing the "SCAN" button?
Try pressing the "search" button on the bottom left of the key board. If you want to use the "SCAN" button you need to program frequencies into the banks.

This may be a little overkill but it doesn't hurt.

Hi, Have you tried switching the key lock to OFF? This could be done by pressing FUNC (2nd button topmost) then keylock (leftmost bottom button), you will then hear KeyUnlocked confirmation of 3 beeps. A last effort is to try and reset the scanner done by powering off then on again, press on the recessed reset button inside a hole on the side of the scanner (try using a straightened paper clip). Hope this be of some idea/help. Post back how things turned up or should you need further information. Good luck and kind regards.
