Remember the time when Pole Saw did not exist? People used to use a ladder to reach the distant twigs and branches of trees. But, so pruning used to be a very tedious job which is now an exciting task to accomplish. Now, you do not have to think of pruning such branches with much difficulty because you can get a pole saw. It reliably offers a smooth cutting experience and makes pruning easy and convenient.
If you have a pole saw, you need to understand that possession begets responsibility. So, you should take excellent care of your pole saw. Moreover, its longevity and efficiency would reduce to some extent when you stop caring about the pole saw. Cleaning pole saw blade is a crucial part of maintenance.

  • If you are using any degreaser product, mix it with water in a container and put the blades into the container.

SOURCE: I have a RYOBI pole

I assume you have the Ryobi powerhead with the multiple tool shaft (can use it with an edger, blower, trimmer, and pole saw) If so, does the powerhead square drive spin when you squeeze the throttle trigger? Does the chain move freely on the saw end when not connected? Is the attachment fully inserted into the powerhead shaft (small spring-loaded button should pop out of the hole when fully inserted.

SOURCE: on a xRemington gas pole saw, I can't get it to oil the blade

Believe this has small oil pump that is operated by turning of the chain sprocket, clean all holes and if this does not fix check the pump sprocket.

How modify pole saw blade

Saw blades are tempered steel and you would need to use good drill bits to get a clean hole. You also need to use a center punch to mark and start the hole.

How can I use a gas pole saw?

Congratulations on getting you a new gas pole saw! A gas pole saw is undoubtedly the most powerful of pole saw types. It uses gas for operation, heavy-duty bars, and chains and is effective for a longer working period. Since it is the most powerful; you can put your faith for pruning heavier and larger branches and trees.
So, you have chosen rightly. But, it is a matter of concern, if you do not know how to use a gas pole saw. Let us help you with this matter.
BEFORE YOU START
  • Make sure that the pole saw is safe and prepared to be used. The faulty ones can lead to a serious accident.
  • Clear the area where you would use your pole saw and where the limbs would fall. Any hazard should be cleared at once.
  • Be aware of the weather because the windy or rainy weather can turn your pruning into a dreadful experience.
  • Cut only one limb at a time
  • Avoid cutting branches that are thicker than 8 inches. Take expert's help in this matter.
  • Be aware of the kickbacks.
  • Always maintain the right balance and base. Hold the saw firmly and stay at your place rigidly.
These instructions should be taken into account before the start of trimming. After you follow the instructions given above, it is time to move towards pruning process. The steps below lay out how to use a gas pole saw.
STEP 1 As you hold the grip of your pole saw and make a balance of your position, make few jump cuts underneath the branch you want to cut off. Jump cuts are a necessary technique which is used before the final cut. It reduces the weight of the branch that makes the final cut easier. It can be physically challenging to cut from underneath. So, always pick a pole saw equivalent to your weight bearing capability.
STEP 2 Extend the height of the pole saw based on the height of the branch. Hold the pole saw vertically, take it up to the branches away from the ground and never forget to hold it properly. Adjust its position and let it rest on the branches. In the meantime, you can ensure your position too. Always keep the pole saw at your chest level.
STEP 3 Now, begin to cut perpendicular to the limb and try to make deep cuts as much as you can. Deep cuts will let you make the final cut and other cuts easier. It will also allow you to make faster cutting strokes. Readjust your position, and the pole saw if you face any trouble.
STEP 4 The last step is all about your safety. Check where the limbs are falling and move from that place as early as possible.
Do not lose hope if you fail the first time. Keep trying until you reach your full potential. Clean the work area after trimming is done. So, this is how you can use a gas pole saw. Keep pruning and stay safe!

Part of the chain came off track

if it is a pole chain saw , and the chain came off, it is installed the same as any chain saw
undo the cover over the drive end , remove the blade and chain, loosen of the screw that adjusts the blade length
put the chain back on the blade , put the blade and chain back on the machine , replace the cover and do the nut up till it just touches the cover
adjust the screw until the chain is at a position where if you pull the chain off the bar the inside guide teeth are about halfway out of the bar guide
tighten up the cover nut

Electric chain saw pole wouldn't cut branches

Check to make sure the blade is not installed backwards. It's an easy mistake to make, everything will work OK, but the saw won't cut if the blade is on backwards.
