It will play a DVD that I have purchased.
Way I see it, you didn't burn your DVD properly.
Try play this DVD on another player or your PC (If you have a DVD drive for it) and see if it plays. If it doesn't, then it's your DVD disc not burned right.

Have you try to Select the Video Option? Try to select video. does the DVD you made are made from any pc software burner?.

I had to reseat all the connectors inside the Unit. The wide white ribbon cable going from the DVD player to the circuit board was the main problem. I dont know if it will help you, but it did it for me.

You need to convert avi files to dvd format before burning, otherwise the player won't recognize them. Google "avi to dvd" and you'll find a number of free or pay programs that will do the conversion for you.

Avic D2 is not made w/ DVD player. DVD on bottom of radio is for GPS DVD. You need to connect an external DVD player or Playstation.

It may be the file type that you've saved is not compatible with your DVD recorder.
