Ignitor does not glow. what is my next step, I can't seem to find a manual or diagram of where things are. Is there a fuse I can replace to the ignitor or can I get to ignitor to clean it?  Any help appreciated.

Check for continuity at thermal fuse in back where the blower housing is located. If there is no continuity then replace fuse. If there is continuity then replace igniter.

My dryer has stoped providing heat. Checked the ignitor and it does not glow. What part has failed?

It could be the fuse which mounts on the blower next to the thermistor which judges temp or the thermistor itself could be open. Or the flame detection sensor might be open and not allowing power to the ignitor.
SERVICE MANUAL
Note: Use the manual to find the tech sheet and use the tech sheet to find the fault.

Kenmore gas dryeri have a kenmore gas dryer 3405587 will run norm but will not heat i replaced thermal fuse and ignitor last year. this year i jumped fuse and it seemed to work replaced fuse remounted and...

does the ignitor glow?if it doesn't check the sensor for continuity,if it is glowing then you could have bad gas coils or a bad gas valve, let me know if it's glowing and send the full model number, you shouldn't jump out any of the parts, just check them with a meter,if it's bad change it out,if the fuse was bad it most likely popped from a dirty dryer, you most likely have a blocked vent line or the duct is backed up where the lint filter slides into, you could have damaged something else by jumping out the fuse, let me know what you find

My kenmore elite electric dryer inconsistantly starts to heat and

Hi,

If you are having problems with your gas dryer not heating the most common problem is that the ignitor goes bad. Even though it glows sometimes it is still not working properly.

if you dryer is gas check out this gas no heat tip....

If you have an electric dryer, you can have many different things that can go wrong causing the dryer not to heat.

check out this electric no heat tip...

My kenmore model 11070812990 gas dryer won't heat. I have removed it to the garage so I can work on it. I have the front, back, and top off, Have determined the ignitor is working, what should I be looking...

HOW DID YOU DETERMINED THE IGNITOR WORKS? DID IT GLOWS REALLY RED? IF IT DID, MEANS YOU HAVE GOOD FUSE AND YOU SHOULD CHECK THE RADIANT SENSOR(NEXT TO IGNITOR) AND THE COILS.IF THE IGNITOR DID NOT GLOW AT ALL, THEN YOU HAVE A BROKEN FUSE. IT IS LOCATED IN THE BACK. ABOUT AN INCH LONG AND IT'S NARROW. CHECK FOR CONTINUITY. OPEN MEANS IT'S BAD. OHM READING MEANS GOOD.

Replace the gas valve coils if the ignitor glows but does not light. Replace the flame sensor if the ignitor does not glow.

Gas Dryer isn't producing any hot air or heat

Sears will not tell you before they come. It will be over $150 when they come out. There are several possible parts, Thermal fuse, ignitor, thermostat, coil on the valve. Verifying voltage to the valve will tell you where to look next. If it is a thermal fuse then what caused it to blow needs fixed or it will just go again.(over heat due to restricted air flow or stuck thermostat). You should be able to get the parts for under $50.

On my 4 year old Kenmore elite dryer the ignitor glows and

HI, Check your 4" vent to the outside and make sure it is clean and that it has no kinks.
Any restriction to the outside will cause the dryer to short cycle. All thermostats must have continuity. With the dryer running, remove the lint screen and check to see if there is good air flow by putting your hand in where the filter goes (it is safe). You should feel air rushing past your hand if the vent is clear.
I hope this helps you. Please let me know if I can assist you further.

Igniter on my gas dryer glows but does not ignite

If the ignitor is infact getting hot enough the next step is for the coils to open the valve to release the gas. Most of the time the ignitor is not drawing the proper amperage to open the coils. One or more of the following parts would be bad.
ignitor # 5303937186 $50.00 shipped to you.
coil # 5303931775 $40.00 shipped to you

Kenmore 80 series Heating Problem

Most of these issues will need an ohm meter, unless you want to just take a guess.
For Gas dryers.
1. See if the ignitor glows, if not, check the thermal fuse. (if the lint screen is on top, the fuse is accessed behind the back panel, it's small and white, next to the bulkier thermostat. If the lint screen is in the front panel, the thermal fuse is mounted on top of the blower wheel housing, accessed behind the bottom-front or "kick" panel. The fuse should read 0 to .2 ohms at the most, technically is should be zero. If that checks ok, check the ignitor itself, which has a wire harness that connects about 6" from the ignitor. Should be around 50 ohms... a faulty ignitor would read infinite ohms (open).
2. If the ignitor does glow, and you hear a click, but there is no flame, replace the valve coils, (two small cylindrical objects mounted on the valve) Part # 279834. This is assuming your gas is ON.

If Electric, it would not be the fuse, as on electric dryers it is also in the motor circuit, and the dryer would not run at all. Check the heating element, should be around 9-11 ohms. If good, check all thermostats (operating, hi-limit, thermal cutoff). Infinite ohms is bad. Hopefully it's not more complicated than this, or it can get weird..... Hope this helps.
