Nokia N96 softwear version update HELP

Hi there, im new to this forum but it looks very good. I have justbought a N96 from a mate that is on vodafone, it freezes up a lot(specially when using lan wizzard) and the battery only has about 13hours life. My softweare version is 11.018, i have checked withvodafone and they say that i have the latest version for my model. Ihave read on symbian that 20.050 is available? why cant i have that oneor when can i have that one please? About the battery i have heard thei can put in the BL-6f that lasts longer than BL-5F, but is there anyother things i can do to extend my battery life? What is Breath forapart from wasting battery?

Thanks in advance. Meurig

Hi Vinay, thanks again, it was heavy usage the first time, but i did all the power savings the second time and it lasted about the same. So i now have a new battery bl-5f and an external charger so that i can swap battery each time its flat. Also i have ordered the bl-6f that lasts up to 3 days as per the forums, its about a mil thicker so you need to take away the padding off the back of the case, and still there will be a slight bulge but well worth it acording t them. Do you know whay the wlan is much slower on this than it was on the n95? on that it used to be instant, this takes about 30 seconds. Thanks mate.

Ways to reduce battery consumption:- 1. Use GPRS only when needed, unlike me who has it on 24 hrs with Fring, Nokia eMail, Kaspersky Anti Virus and Google Latitude. Very heavy on the battery these things are. 2. Use backlight as less as possible. Go to Settings andd reduce the time for backlight. 3. Go to Nokia site and to My Nokia. Learn all the short cuts (single key operations) from there. This is to reduce the keypresses.

The battery time given in the specs clearly says "so many hrs with 2G and so many with 3G etc". So, that means that if you are using the instrument only as a phone then it will last much longer compared to when you use it to access the net either thru the GPRS or Wlan or 3G.There is more than double the consumption. With the improved new batttery things should improve considerably. I have read about this battery but was trying to save your expenses.
