Question about Televison & Video
No picture, no sound? How do you know the set has powered up? My suspicion it is not powering up and the protection system has activated (this is an electronic smart fuse, so to speak).
If the set IS powering up and still no sound or video, it is the main power supply gone bad. Very expensive repair.
If you have audio, but no raster, it is the high voltage and/or the horizontal output. Also expensive repair.
Actually, it is the data from Consumer Report, which has the largest database on such things, that has convinced me that the rca brand is not doing so well with reliability.
Cost of repair for any of the above failure points would be at least $200, I think.
Hope i helped you.
Thanks for using ' Fixya ' and have a nice day!!
