Open My Computer and right click on the C drive and select Properties. Click on Disk Cleanup and after it calculates how much space you can free up it opens up a box that you can check off which areas you want to clean. You probably want to check them all unless you have a specific area you dont want cleaned. This will take a while. After it is through Click the Tools tab and click Defragment now. When the box opens make sure the C drive is highlighted and Click Defragment. This will take a while too. when it is done, reboot the computer

If this model Acer has a SATA controller then yes you can, but if it does not have a SATA controller then you can only install a ATA hard drive up to 80 Gb capacity.

Want to add 2nd hard drive to vista64bit hombuilt.

In one system that I have seen this one, we had loaded optimized defaults. One item you could look at are the jumpers and the SATA ports if the connections are correct.

Sounds like the 160gb drive has some issues ...bad clusters etc ... if it keeps happening you can be sure the drive will fail soon.

I would look to replace the drive as soon as possible. If it's less than a yar old you should be able to get it replaced under warranty.

845 GLLY Maximum Hard disk support

Try first to reformat the 40 GIG hard drive that you have since it still detected under BIOS so hopefully that can still be reformatted and still work after that, but if still have the same problem this 40GIG hard drive may have alot of bad sectors already , Sorry to say but the 200 gig of sata drive wonto work for this motherboard since it doesn't support SATA drive , you can get a 1600GIG of IDE drive for this, this is teh complete specs of your motherboard
