Question about Washing Machines

1 Answer

About every twenty loads when I wash a load it will go to F-28 and not finish the load of laundry. Within the first year I had the repaiman out for noise, vibration and this problem and they couldn't find anything. I am getting very upset. I Have always used Seaars produscts but this washer has left a sour taste in my mouth. HELP!!!

Hi,

F28 is a SERIAL COMMUNICATION ERROR.

Given the intermittent nature of the problem it is highly possible that this error is caused by a loose connection on the serial wiring of the machine. You can check these connections over yourself.

There are other possible causes however and I have listed what the technical repair manual says about it below.

F-28 SERIAL COMMUNICATION ERROR
The communication between the Central Control Unit (CCU) and
the Motor Control Unit (MCU) cannot be sent correctly.

Possible Causes/Procedure

1. Unplug washer or disconnect power.
2. Check wire harness connections to the MCU, the motor, and
Central Control Unit (CCU).
– Check connections of the CCU board within the housing.
– Make sure all grounding switches are engaged.
3. Check the drive system for any worn or failed components.
4. Plug in washer or reconnect power.
5. Verify CCU operation by running a Diagnostic Test or any
cycle.
6. Check the MCU by looking for operations of the drive motor.
7. Check the drive motor for powered rotations.
8. Check that the serial harness at the MCU is not mounted
upside down. The wires should be to the left when facing
the MCU connectors.

Hope this helps. Please do remember to rate my answer. Many Thanks.

    Hi

Some of these are ideally a job for a technician who has experience to spot wear on drive components etc...

However the wiring connections can be checked by any person to make sure the connectors are tight and have not loosened. Given the intermittent nature of your fault it would certainly be worth your while to check any connectors that you can easily access as that alone may just resolve your problem.

If you feel comfortable enough removing some panels to inspect the connections there is no reason why you should not do this yourself. Even if you are unsure what connectors you are checking - just check them all to see they are well pushed in and secure - you can do no harm by doing this.

If you feel happier getting the tech to do it - give him the whole list to go through - at least then you know that has been done.

Just be sure the machine is unplugged from the mains supply when you do this!

Hoover ultra care 1500 large load machine CYCLE IS TAKING HOURS TO FINISH

Hi Frank,

Went through this a couple of time.  Two things, at different times.  First is it draining?  If it is, then check the motot brushes.  They cost about £25 and take twenty minutes to replace.  Mine failed at three years.

If it's not draining, then their is probably a blockage at the drain pump.  Anything bigger than twenty pence coin could do it.  Again, easy to do, just do it outside near a drain.

HI colleen. thanks for the question. i know that you have been doing laundry for 30 yrs. i have been repairing for 45 years. they did not have daugs then. so the problem was not there. yes overloading is the cause . but if it wont go into the spin cycle . that could be the lid switch.

Won't spin.

Your washer obviously has been over-loaded. It trips the spin switch & prevents top-speed spinning. See that you load within the machine's user manual load, not more. You can even weigh your laundry before loading to see that you dont over-load. Also see that the laundry is evenly placed within the bucket. These are suggestions.
