Perfect walkthrough, but the audio is on the dvd player, not the tv?

I dont have a Solution but I have the same problem with my RCA portable dvd DRC6309. I have connected it to three different tv set and I get no Video but I do get Sound through the tv sets... I have sent an e-mail to RCA costemer support hoping for a solution. If I hear anything back I will post it here...

I bought my RCA DRC6309 about a month or two ago at a Wal-mart supercenter. They no longer sell RCA portable dvd players. That is why I contacted RCA directly.

This is only for the RCA portable dvd player DRC6309 model.

I have talk to RCA tech support and they helped me with my problem. The solution is very simple once you know how to do it. I will take you step by step in fixing the problem but please read all this information before doing it and you will need the REMOTE to solve this issue.

(dvd player can not have a disc in it. Any disc will have to be removed before starting this. If the set menu does not show up, check for a disc in the player and remove it. than close it.)

Step one... Turn on the dvd player.

Step two... With remote press set up button (on bottom of remote next to A-B and above DISC button.)

Step three... You will see the set up menu. (Languge/Video/System.)

Step four... Press over to the video setup page.

Step five... Press down to the Video output only.

Step six... Press over and down so the on is highlighter.

Step Seven... Press enter. Note the picture on the dvd player will go black (this is normal)

You can now connect the cables to the player and the tv set. Enjoy watching your movie on a bigger screen.

Note.. The reason the screen on the portable dvd player goes black is because most people either watch the picture on a tv or on the portable not both... It helps with the eyes..

Also note.. To have the picture go back to the portable either go thought the same steps (2-6) but instead of turning the video output on turn it off. The picture will go back to the portable...

Or you can just turn off the portable and when you turn it back on it will return to normal settings.

Sorry so long but I wanted to make sure I gave good information and that I covered everything that needed to be done as simple as possible.

Please also note that you may have to change the video output as in Pan scan/Letter box/Wide screen, to watch the movie on your tv better. Those can be found under the System tab. Instead of going to Video go to system. I believe default is Wide screen. If you press enter on the choose ones it will highlight red which is for set tv display mode. If you press enter twice it will highlight green and I believe that will be for the player as well as the tv mode.

Either your DVD players Laser Pickup Unit is dirty or defective or its 'sled' motor has damaged. Sled motor is one, which spins the disc inside. if it does not spins, the main system IC won't get any signal that the disc is "IN", and will show the messege "No Disc". The same will happen if the laser pickup unit is defective or dirty. Insert a Head Cleaning Disc into the system, and play it for atleast 3 times. If there is any dirt or dust, this will solve your DVD's problem. If not, it should be serviced by any skilled technician. It is not a user reparable item, as you have to take out its loading mechanism completly out of it for repair. OK.

No sound unless VIDEO signal is plugged into receiver

Connect the DVD player audio with digital coax into the digital audio connection as you described and the DVD video directly to the TV. Now switch the input mode on the receiver to DVD. Then switch the video output mode on the TV to correspond to the input you plugged into. Any source in 5.1 dolby digital or dts should now work properly and have picture too.
