There could be a blockage at the top of the hose, making the impression that the bag is full, take the hose off and check for any blockages. This is a common problem in these makes of vacuum,

SOURCE: bag light stays on, powers on then shuts off immediately. What is the problem?

first check to make sure there is a bag in the machine, if so make sure that its in securely, there is a pin switch in the bag door that wont allow the machine to turn on if there is no bag in it. If that's okay, then find the knob on the top of the machine ( in the middle of the canister ) and make sure its turned to the maximum, that is a sensitivity knob that can keep the machine from working ( in case it was clogged, but if its too sensitive it could think the machine is clogged when it really isn't ).

SOURCE: My electrolux vac shut off for a full bag. After

If the suggestion that renevacdoc did not work, it is most likely that your valve assembly(full bag control) has gone bad and needs to be replaced. You will have to take your vac to the Aerus/Electrolux dealer/service store for repair.

SOURCE: vac keeps shutting itself off!?

This problem is caused by the static electricity which causes the hose controls to jump back down to the off setting. I have seen this issue on several Silver Moon and Blue Moon models before.

The only way to fix this problem is to purchase a brand new, redesigned hose. The new hose can be purchased here; Miele Electric Hose Miele Part # SES 125

In fact, I'm so sure that this new hose will fix the problem to your Miele, that if you do purchase the hose from GoVacuum, we'll give you a 60 day satisfaction money back guarantee. If this hose doesn't fix your problem, you may return it to GoVacuum within 60 days for a full 100% refund, no restocking fees or shipping charges will be deducted. We'll even include a free return label you can use to return the hose to us at our expense!

If you have any questions, please feel free to send me an email, or request a clarification. I hope this helped you. If you found this solution helpful, please remember to rate this solution as helpful by clicking on the four THUMBS UP icons in the top right hand corner of this solution.

SOURCE: The bag light stays on,

First, turn dial on top of vacuum counter-clockwise so the smallest dot lines up with the arrow. See if it stays on. If not, detach hose and turn vacuum on. Place palm of hand over intake. If it turns off, it's possible that the tubes connecting to the CVA (control valve assembly) are clogged and simply need cleaned. This should be performed at an authorized Aerus Electrolux store only.
Second, check the afterfilter. This should be changed after every six bags. It's located beneath the tool caddy on the back of the machine. Press in the tab and lift tool caddy. If the filter is dirty, remove and replace. If you're out, try running the vacuum with no afterfilter.
I mentioned the CVA earlier, and a broken or worn out CVA will cause the vacuum to not start/run. This is an internal part and needs to be replaced by an authorized Aerus Electrolux service tech. Use the same check as above; detach hose, switch vacuum on. If it doesn't come on, it's most likely a bad CVA.

Hoover windtunnel dirt finder light stays red. We've cleaned the elbow the roller the hose and have a clean bag. The vacuum is new only had it for 3 months.

I'm not sure about a 3 month old vac, I'd probably go the warranty route. However, for the older vacs thy start getting false positives. The sensor is simply a microphone hooked to a computer chip detecting sounds of dirt entering the bag.
To rig it to start working, you'll need to remove the tool accessory tray and elbow that enters the back of the vac, and attached to the bag. This will reveal the microphone at the elbow, and wire that runs into the bottom area of the vac. When on, a large amount of air comes from the bottom screw and area where the wires enter. My fix was to clean up the microphone contact points a little bit with a screwdriver, and then leave the vac running while putting in dampering in the hole at the bottom, and around the back of the elbow. Cotton balls and electrical tape at the bottom hole, and napkins around the outside of the elbow (wedged between the back of the vac assembly and elbow did the trick). The schematic for the vac is here: http<colon>//www<dot>vacsrus<dot>com/CartGenie/pg_U6485900<dot>asp
Look for micrphone.

Electrolux Model 2100 vacuum won't work

hi from uk may i suggest you remove cover and the new dust collection bag then if you look in the bag compartment there is a gauze filter fitted usually grey in colour ? at opposite end of compartment where bag connects this gauze filter is the outlet from bag compartment that the air exhales when vac is operating ie as vac **** up dust into bag the bag has microscopic holes that allow sucked up air and dust to collect but keeps dust from passing into bag chamber but allows air to escape thro holes and so enter bag chamber then escapes via the gauze filter to outside of vac hope you follow this ?? now if this filter is blocked/never been cleaned/changed ? then the symptoms of indicator bag full light will come on you can remove and wash filter if it is gauze typ? dry and refit then try vacuuming ? or replace filter they are not expensive usually in pack of 3 in uk DO NOT RUN VAC WITHOUT THIS FILTER FITTED ! or you will have some dust in the room ? hope this helps?

I have an older Electrolux canister vacuum - model #2100 and the temperature sensor shuts down the motor. How to I take apart and clean?

Check to be certain the thermo lite is on and not the bag full indicator. The thermo detector is very reliable, but the bag fill valve often fails. If it is the thermo, check your hose and wand for blockage by dropping a coin through them, before opening the vac itself.Otherwise you may have a bad set of motor bearings causing the motor to overheat due to its age.
The 2100 and all its canister cousins made since 1982 seem to be prone to failure of the dial valve on top cracking internally. The causes the bag full indicator to come on and the vac to shut down.
To open the vac you will need to slide the locking keys and bumpers forward with the bag door open. Do this with a set of pliers. Once done the vac will open from front to back like a **** shell. Be careful to look at the underside hinge are of the bag door before separating and mark and locate the wiring harness . This vac only goes back together one way, perfectly assembled it pops together with ease. If any piece is out of line it`s like a RUBIKS Cube. Take your time . OEM parts are only available through an AERUS Elctrolux dealer or repair shop

Bag was full, changed it, the unit now turns off

Try dialing the control valve to the mid way position. If the unit still shuts down with the bag full light on you have a damaged control valve under the dial on the top of the vac.
This valve failure is common in this model and can only be repaired by someone with original AERUS Electrolux repair parts, generally at an AERUS repair shop.

Stopped working, lights work, shows full light when not full.

Remove the bag and put in a fresh bag. Then rotate the dial on top of the vac to the middle position. When cleaning fine dust the vac will shut off before the bag is full as it is sensing a clogged bag and cannot sense proper air flow through the bag. If this persists the sensor under teh top dial may be damaged and need to be replaced

Vacuum won't stay on

When you open the canister you eill see a little rubber hole that senses when your bag is full. This must be clogged. If you have another vac try to vacume all the dusr from this hole and any other opening inside the vacume that you can reach. I hope this helps. Don't forget to rate this answer.
