The most important thing about the babylock serger is to NOT let them sit without use for more than a month. My Baby Lock Evolve BLE8 sat in a closet for several years as I had stopped sewing. The machine seized and locked-up completely. The dealer tech is now having to soak many of the parts in oil to bring this machine back to life. He told me the worst thing one can do is not run the serger--even if you have no needles or thread in the machine, turn it on and run the machine for 10 minutes, to keep the serger in good condition, at least once a month, if you're not sewing. Do not let these machines sit unused.
That depends on the model. The Babylock Triumph (BLETS8) does not get oiled by the user. However, the Babylock Diana (BL480A) needs to be oiled at 4 different points. See the picture on page 63 (page 64 of the PDF) of the manual. Babylock has the manual here: https://babylock.com/resources/5148/download . Current Babylock sewing machine and serger model manuals are available here: https://babylock.com/support/machine-support .
Please add a comment with your serger model. I'll try to find the oiling diagram, if the machine needs regular lubrication. Do not oil any sewing/serger machine unless the manual recommends that as part of the maintenance of the machine. Some Babylock sewing machine dealers will provide you with the manual, if it is available for a small fee. The Babylock serger that I have access to didn't come with a manual. However, we were able to get one from the dealer.
I hope this helps.

Make sure that the presser foot dial (the silver "knob") on top of the machine is not too loose. You can adjust this w/ a nickel; tighten it all the way down & then loosen about 4 full rotations for cotton fabrics. Also make sure the Differentail feed lever is on "N". You can order a book from your local Baby Lock dealership for all models. Good Luck.
