Question about Goodman GMS90703BXA Heater

Goodman heater I can hear the furnace come on but the fan does not blow and no heat is coming from the vents.

OK, we will need to perform a simple test of the furnace to see exactly what is going on. Set your thermostat to 10 degrees higher than you normally do so we know that there is a call for heat. Then at the furnace, there will ba a small viewing port. Watch the blinking light and record all the patterns it blinks. After a minute or so, place your hand on the PVC vent pipe(s) to see if they are warm. If not, either the thermostat is not sending a signal to the furnace or we will need to look inside the furnace to see what is happening. But if one of the PVC pipes is getting warm, place your hand on the plenum on top of the furnace connected to the ductwork. You shoul feel the metal starting to get warm. If the blower does not turn on within two minutes, there is an issue with either the blower itself or the control board.

Getting back to if one of the vent pipe(s) don't get warm. Using a piece of duct tape or electrical tape, after removing the furnace access panel, tape the door safety switch down. The furnace will now try and cycle. A small fan attached to the vent pipe should run, then it will create suction on a pressure switch that will energize the ignitor. You will notice an orange glow thru a larger viewing port looking into the burner box. After a few seconds, the gas valve will open and the ignitor will ignite the gas. The orange glow will turn to a blue flame. Now after two minutes or less, the blower should turn on. If one of these steps don't happen, you should document it and let your technician know. As far as the blinking lights, these are diagnostic codes that will tell you where to look for the issue. On the rerverse of the access panel, there is a chart that gives a simple explanation of what the blinking represents. Again, let your technician know what you discovered. Keep in mind that the furnace will cycle or attempt to start 3 times before it will blink an error code.

Remove the tape and reassemble the access panel. Yes you will need to contact your technician but the steps you performed just saved you 30-40 minutes of diagnostic time.

Coleman furnace problems

I take you mean there is a fan coming on that blows AC air thru the vents and is the same fan used to blow the heat ? If that is the case is the fan coming on when the heat comes on ? If not then that is why you are not getting the heat.
That can be from a temp sensor not working or a control board or a contactor
First see if the fan even comes on or if the same fan is used for both AC and heat

I have a GMS8 furnace and it will not kick on.. No heat coming out of heater vents..

Is inducer motor running. If not change it. If it is then remove vacuum line from it and blow through the line on start up. If this works change the pressure switch. If not start jumping the sensors around the burner until you find the bad one

My girlfriend has a forced air Goodman furnace in her house. Her furnace has been not running well. Whenever the filter gets dirty the furnace does not run right which it to be expected. The problem is...

where is the thermostat located? i should be on a inside wall in a comon room and not around lights, computer or heat vent or air return. a thermostat is just a switch and will operate in its enviroment. does the fan cycle off before the heat starts blowing again? the fan on these are on a timer that the t stat will have to "brake" open on reaching temp to shut off. not knowing where your at look this over and i hope it helps. i dont think i would let someone sell me a control board for this problem.

I turn my thermostat to the HEAT position, I hear the Thermostat click and the Furnace begins to hum but no air comes out of the vents. Also if i turn the fan to the ON position air will come out of the...

need to go to furnace and watch it...if your hearing a hum the enducer draft motor may have should start first if there is no fault codes...reset unit by unplugging furnace or in some cases turning power switch off...turn thermostat on heat and watch unit ..the small enducer draft motor should start first the a ignitor glows and the should light...goodman units have a control board with a light on control board when it fails should flash a code and on the door or inside on lable should give you what that code is...hope this helps good luck

HEater is heating outside but not blowing warm air thru the vents inside the house. May blow air for 10 mins but then stops. I have the temp. set at 76 degrees but it is 48 degrees in my house right now.

sounds like you may have some restriction in the heater or overtemp sensor is kicking out to soon, clean everything thourghly, check fan and oil bearing, check safety circuits in furnace wiring, refer to owners manual trouble shooting guide

Turn the heat up and observe the flash code....there's a legend in the furnace,or in the blower compartment that tells you what the flash sequence means...or in the Manual...........The flash code is likely for the Pressure switch...this part can either be defective or your Vent or Air intake could be blocked with Leaves,rodents,kids rocks etc...check the vent outside and look for obstructions and see that the air coming out the exhaust seems to be normal...........find the pressure switch which is round and has usually a grey small hose coming from the pressure switch and going to the furnace body or the exhaust fan....pull the hose off the opposite end (not the pressure switch...with the power off)...and slightly **** and blow repeatedly...(Really) and you will here the switch this several times at least...make sure you're activating the switch by hearing the clicking.....Turn the furnace back on and see if it works...if it does you need a new Pressure switch...if it doesn't your vent could still be blocked or the switch could still be defective02f491c.jpg

My goodman gas furnace is not kicking on. the light on the unit is saying that it should be working but it is not. there is no pilot light, the fan is working the heat is not

If you are not getting any codes from the board, then the furnace is not getting a call for heat from the thermostat. A wire may have come off, the thermostat not properly wired, or a break in the stat wire. On a call for heat, you should have 24vac between W and C on the circuit board. This will let you know if you are getting a call for heat all the way back to the furnace.

Furnace start buts shuts off

It sounds like you have an obstruction in the exhaust vent. Thats why when you bybass the pressure switch it runs ok. Steve

Goodman furnace may be producing to much water

Your furnace is more than 90% efficient and extracting so much heat from the gas that it condenses instead of blowing out steam. This is good! Figure that for every dollar you spend on fuel, you are getting back 90+ cents back in heat. Compare that to the typical units that only get 70 - 80 cents back in heat.

Yes you should drain your condensate to a proper drain via gravity or a condensation pump. I would recommend you treat the condensate first with a acid neutralizer prior to draining in municipal drains due to it's high content of sulfuric acid. You can purchase these filter type neutralizers on the net or at a good heating wholesaler.
