I have a top load LG WT5001CW washer. LG is noted for corrosion around the bleach dispenser. They call it a paint problem to get out of having to cover it under any extended warranty. Long story short, I replaced the top and put in a brand new bleach dispenser. Now the dispenser fills with water during the wash cycle. It didn't do it before, so I don't know why it's doing it now?? Anybody know why?

Most likely the small electric motor that moves the water injection pipe on to the various outlet mainifolds has stripped its plastic gears, afraid the only solution is a new soap dispsener assembly

This may not be relevant, but by design, bleach does NOT dispense in the Buly/Bedding, Kids Wear, and Silk/Ultra Delicate cycles. If you try to use it, it remains in the dispenser.
As for the yucky smell, leave the door open when not in use.

The control board program has many sensors built into the unit to determine when to dispense the bleach and the softener. LG tech documents doesn't list when these liquids are dispensed so there must be a program that matches the current operation and loads of each wash program. That's the best answer I can give you at this time.

I have this same problem today and did not need to take off the top panel or remove the front panel/housing. The bleach and frabric softener dispenser snaps right out and you can check the tubing and clamp from there. You will need to remove the top panel if you need to replace the tubing. In my case, there is a crack in the dispenser itself which has ruined several loads of laundry over the past year...now I realize it wasn't the clamp and hose, but the dispenser itself. Check them all while you are at it.

It sounds like the bleach dispenser is clogged or has a crack in it. What we do, is when we bleach our clothes and I know that this is extra work, but we wait until the washing machine is full of water, then add the bleach directly to the wash.
