Question about Televison & Video

1 Answer

When burning an incomplete dvd, and adding movies later, the recorder says the disk is invalid, or it tries to re-prepare the disk when it already has media on it. Also, now it will not show what is already on the disk, and I can not finalize it- or watch it. This is a stand alone dvd recorder hooked to directv plus tivo equivalent. brand : ILo model: DVDR04

I'll check the onscreen menu, but I don't think I have ever seen a multisession option. It is a stand alone unit and hooks up with either s-video, rca cables, or a cable tv wire. More like an old style VCR, it's one of the first stand alone ilo Dvr recorders, DVR04 is one the front of the unit and we are burning to + r disks, which have been working for the past 4 years.

What size dvd 's are used to burn a movie from my Acer aspire 5517? I tried to burn a dvd and cd once and was unable.

The process is rather simple once you get the hang of it. Many people use various conversion software programs to convert their movie file to prepare them for a DVD. Although in the beginning it is complicated but after a couple of stabs at it. You will be burning movies.
The size normally would be 4.7 Gig standard DVD-R you can use RW if you plan to rewrite over the movie later. It will hold a single movie or approx: 4-5 depending on size if the files are not converted. You can convert the movie files using Winavi this is what I use. or you can try to find any free burning software program out there. Winavi for me was the simplest to process it is a approx: 3 step process.
You will be burning the Video from the file once converted. The audio is included during the burning process. All you need is one DVD-R place in the burner. Then open the conversion software and open the video file and convert and burn that is about it. For higher graphics quality it will take more of the disk space for less or normal it will take approx half the disk that way you can fit two movies on one disk basically. So the process is converting the movie to be prepared for the DVD to work on standard players.
Check out Winavi this is what I would suggest maybe someone else knows a free software conversion program you can use. John

No matter what blank dvd i put after preparing it says INVALID DISK !!!help!!!

It may be dust in the connectors. If you remove the cover and use a can of dust remover to blow out any dust, also, blow out the connector holes. I fixed to VCR's like this. Good Luck.

Recording Fall, Invalid disk

Try using Sony +R discs. or +RW's are good, any brand as long as they are +'s. For some reason alot of +R discs brands will not work, I wait and just get Sony +R or the +RW's on sale and stock up and I have no more troubles. Mine is the 05MU. The ZU is a little strange with the RW but will still record. Hope this helps.

HOW DO YOU FINALISE A DVD DISC

that depends on what software you are using to burn the disk, most will do that for you as long as you do not make a multi-session disk, multi-session means its not finalized and can have data added to it later, the only way to read it then is going to be with a pc, if your refering to a dvd recorder(not in a pc) then it depends on the model, post some additional info, every details helps get you a better answer faster.

LiteOn LVC - 9016G dvd recorder Problem.

throw it in the trash- I got 1 from costco, liked it so much, bought another a week later. First one started giving me the "invalid" msg, 2nd one did the same 1 wk later, so I guess they're programmed to do so after so many hours after being plugged in. Too bad, cuz it was the easiest to use of 5 previous models I tried. Their easyguide onscreen menu was the greatest, plus the status of time, pause & recording indicator, which you could turn on or off as needed, were very useful.
A real shame to have to throw in the trash. Won't ever buy another thing from them.
