Question about Archos Gmini 402 Digital Media Player

Hard Drive full

I have 10gigabytes of music on my player. I had removed about 8 gigabytes of pictures but when I synch with my computer it shows disc almost full. When i checked archos site it said space could be freed up by defragmenting but my computer will only let me defragment computers hard drive and not external drives. How can I fix it?

If you still have the music on your computer then reformat your player and that will erase everything on it. then just put back on whatever you want

Disc c is showing full of memory and everything goes downloaded in this disc but it has no space other volume are free..so what i do

Usually the C drive is your main drive on your computer. The C hard disk drive (HDD) contains space measured in gigabytes, for example 500GB means 500 gigabytes of data that you can store on this HDD.

If the C drive on your system is showing full, then it is time to backup some of your data to another HDD usually an external HDD, that you can purchase at locations such as CompUSA or Best Buy.

The other volumes you refer to are internal HDD then you're in luck. Move some of your data from your C HDD to your other HDD.

Remember that after a certain point, a HDD may stop responding or respond very slowly when it is almost completely full.

Let me know if this helps out.

Putting Files on Your Player
  1. Plug in your official Visual Land mp3 player to your PC with the included USB cable.
  2. Locate your player on the PC by opening 'My Computer', it should show up as an extra drive. Open the player drive.
  3. Locate the directory where the files you want on the player are located on your PC, and open that folder.
  4. Click and hold on the desired file to transfer, and then "Drag" it over to the player's external drive folder, and unclick to 'drop' the file onto the player.
  5. Your Visual Land Player may support synching with Windows Media Player, but it is not guaranteed. Your Visual Land Player however will NOT support other synching software such as iTunes, MusicMatch, or any other programs. Simply use the process above to put files on your unit.
If your Songs Not Showing in Playlist
If your songs are not showing up in the playlist after updating it, try removing any subfolders within the MUSIC folder.

The V-Touch Player uses a directory structure for initial scan of usable files. Each mode goes to an appropriate default folder for its initial scan of playable files. Video files should be placed in the “VIDEO” folder. Audio files should be placed in the “AUDIO” folder. Image files should be placed in the “IMAGE” folder. If they are not placed in the appropriate folders, you will need to search through the player's directories to find them.

Trying to trainsfer program from my computer to the tevion memory

Place the flash drive (mem stick) into the USB port of the computer. Copy the files to it. Remove it from the computer and put it into the USB port of the other computer. Copy the files from the flash drive to the computer hard drive.
The memorystick (flash drive) will show up as another disk in File Manager/Windows Explorer, and disappear when the device is removed.

You cannot transfer already installed games from computer to computer, only the files. The game must be installed from the original CDs in order to function.

You can transfer documents, music, pictures, etc.

I dont know how to download music from the computer to the mp3 i just need to understand how to do it and where to go so i can.. thank you

First you need to plug it in to the USB port, if you are running anything newer than windows 98 you won't need a driver. Double click on my computer and it shows up as a removable disc(usually drive letter f:), double click this drive to open it as folder. This folder will show you all directory's and files on your player, here you can delete any songs on your player by finding the file and deleteing it. From here you can also put your music onto the player by copying and pasting your music files from your hard drive. If you are not sure where your music is located you can run a search by clicking START>SEARCH>FOR FILES OR FOLDERS (if you are running XP click pictures music or video, check music then click search, each file will have it's location in small print below it's name, or you can right click each song and hit copy, then go back to f: drive and right click and hit paste, you can copy more than one). Hope this helps. RICHARDM69

"Synch problem: Synchronise to continue your music subscription"

I would suggest formatting the unit and trying again, but this time do not sync it with media player. Plug it into your USB and got "My Computer", the player will show up as a removable disc usually drive f:, right click on the drive and hit format, quick format shoudl work. Once formated double click the removable disc drive, and then click and drag or copy and paste your music into this drive and see what happens. That player should support WMA files, but just to let you know, if you convert those files to MP3 it will take about half the space and therefot you can store more music at once.
