Computer randomly freezing in vista

My computer is a Toshiba laptop with Vista o/s. Last week, it started freezing while in normal mode. It will run in safe mode without a problem. There is no pattern to what I'm doing or how long it has been running when it freezes. I tried disabling startup items and services, running diagnostic tests (all report everything is fine), even reinstalled Vista. The problem continues. Any suggestions?

Try runing ccleaner and clean up your registry if that does't work, run speed fan and run a s.m.a.r.t. diagnostic scan.

You can use system restore and restore your computer's settings to a previous date. Please choose a date during which you know that your computer worked fine. This will remove any recently made change that had affected windows Vista in your computer

My toshiba satellite l300-1aq laptop is freezing within minutes of start up? I am running Windows Vista. How can I root cause the issue?

When you power up, turn the notebook so you can see if the cooling fan is running.

It sounds like the self protect shut down from over heating.

Toshiba A135-S4467 runs in safe mode but not normal (Vista)

Hi there,
The fact it starts in safe mode (which means it loads the basics for the pc to run and thats it) would indicate to me that there is something running in the backround at normal boot and also your cpu has a panic attack. Just wondering did this pc come with this version of windows or is it one you downloaded and installed yourself?? If its one you downloaded yourself (which it sounds like) get rid of it, because it is probs corrupted. Get another copy of it or to be quite honest I would get windows 7. Its better ,faster, and a lot less **** runs on it...The fact you changed your hard drive and still have the same problem it sounds like the copy of windows you have...Hope this helps...

I want to install xp on existing vista, also wanted to remove vista on hp dv2000 labtop

If Vista it is working well on Safe Mode, you have to check it out what is going wrong there instead of downgrade the system to XP.

Remember: Which was the last program that you've installed?

When was the last time that the system started normally?

You can try uninstalling the last programs

Also clean the computer and be sure that your pc is not virus or spyware infected.

Having Trouble Starting

Enter Safe Mode with Networking.
Update Video drivers.
Restart the system in normal mode and if still no go then you have to reinstall Vista from CD's.

You can try to select safe mode and do a system restore (Start-all programs-accessories-system tools-system restore) choosing the date when your laptop was working properly. If you are using Vista, you would see if you had a Windows Update or other such software changes. It is like undoing that but there would be no changes with your personal data. If your laptop works faster after that, please do not have the same software or update again. Hope this helps. Thank you.
