BCM almost sounds like a disease... Frankly I don't know who coined the word and how. We need details and we will help you fix your computer. Tell us how it behaved a few minuted or hours before the failure. What was the first failure, or they have told you that it is a bad BCM. What happened after the "repair"? Please gives all details. Why does my fuel gauge read full when its not. I had a battery problem and since changing the battery the gauge reads full how could I fix this problem.


did you scan it first.?
what if the scan tool told you what's wrong,
or a big clue.
the sender, bad
wires to it bad.
BCM cant take to stander because BCM scrambled.
or comm errors from BCM to dash, cant send data to cluster
do the cluster self test yet, per Factor SM book?
if this is confusing, why not get car serviced
as that is what they will do.
chapter 9 page 377 in the SM, tells you what to do
and for sure if P0462 or 463 DTC errors.
here is 1/2 the data path below, then sender end.
The PCM reads this data. (for lots of reason)
and then sends it to the cluster via the CAN bus.
then the cluster shows the fuel level.
why not scan it first.?
and why gue$$?

AAA guys dont fix car, they rescue them....
the door lock system is broken
you have 2 choices. may be 3
  1. Take it to any ASE mech, and he fixes,it.
  2. Get the FSM from JEEP open the page on DOORS, and do the tests shown there.
  3. Using SAME FSM defeat the DOOR system. using keys.
#3 may just be a fuse pull, ill look that up now for you. ....lets see...

what id do.
id check all fuse first for blown, with an ohmmeter, 0=good, infinity = bad.
then id pull all the door relays. in the main junction box.
is the battery drain gone (i use and ammeter to find that truth)
THE BCM (body control module ) runs the locks, so you can just
pull its fuses.. or other things die.

keep in mind that door locks are alive , keys in pocket.
so that begs the question, is the BCM messing up (or relays stuck)
or is the BCM being told to open a door, full time ?
id connect any scan tool to the OBD2 conn. and see if there are fault codes. (like relay stuck door, etc)
stuck switch for doors."called door lock switch mux" by Jeep.
The BCM has many relay that it controls, pull them all and see
which one is causing the DRAIN, key off
and work backwards from there.
the BCM has RKE data line, this is the remote key receiver.
if it goes nuts it might seen door commands to the BCM full time.
so unplug it, to see if the commands end.
its called the RKEM (m for module)

the problem focus is the BCM is the brain that runs it all.
it has inputs and outputs.
the brain (processor) can have a bad input (switch or RKE)
or the output can stick (prime target door relays)
that is it .
i cant find the JB B+ hot feed, drawing, there are over 50 pages on this JB. a real FSM would win here. to find the door power actual feed .
such is life, in newer complex cars....

i was told the only thing left it could be is a bad ground wire but not positive i dont want to spend all the money to find which ground wire if it could be another problem or it there are any other solutions??

The charging system on your vehicle is computer controlled . GM calls it smart charging system . Running diagnostic check on all the modules on the vehicle may shed some light on the problem . Need a professional or factory scan tool to do this . The instrument cluster turns on the battery light when told by the BCM - body control module . A lot of complex electronic involved here , class 2 serial data communication network , modules sharing info on this network . It's hard to under stand whats happening when you don't know how all works .
Charging System Indicator
The body control module (BCM) sends a message to the IPC via the serial peripheral interface (SPI) requesting illumination. The IPC illuminates the charging system indicator when the following occurs:
• The PCM detects that the generator output is less than 11 volts or greater than 16 volts. The BCM receives a class 2 message from the PCM requesting illumination. The also BCM sends a class 2 message to the radio in order to activate an audible warning.
• The IPC performs the displays test at the start of each ignition cycle as commanded by the BCM. The indicator illuminates for approximately 3 seconds.
• The PCM determines that the ignition is on, with the engine off or the ignition is in the accessory position. The BCM receives a class 2 message from the PCM requesting .

GM also had instrument cluster problems 2003 to 2006 . Buy a used one for $ 20.00 bucks at a automotive salvage yard an see if that fixes the problem . Without testing , check codes , this is just a guess .

Left rear door ajar has been on for a while and i was told its the bcm. wondering if it might be something else?


Yes it is not the BCM in my opinion it is the door ajar switch inside the door that is defective, a common problem. Have a GM dealer run a BCM self test to confirm this.

If it has something to do with the BCM , there would probably have DTC'S - diagnostic trouble codes stored , An just replace a BCM would cause more problems , same with PCM's ! These modules need to be configured and programmed . Also ,without testing no one could say for sure that the BCM is bad . That would be a guess ! Door locks locking an unlocking could be a bad switch input to the BCM . Watch this video plus part 2 and 3

I THINK THE VIN IS LEARNED IN THE BCM WHICH MEANS YOU CANNOT USE A USED ONE

Where is BCM located on 2002 PT Cruiser locks working even when car is not on have been told to check BCM don't know where to find it


I don't find a body control module for your car, but according to the wiring diagram the door locks are controlled by a keyless entry module which is located on top of the dash behind the ac vents.
There are three fuses that power the module.
Check with your dealer for more details.

reprograming is very common, this is done all the time even with newer cars, some times cars new newer or diffrent programing installed in them and dealer is the only one that can do it unless someone has a dealer scan tool.As far as replacing it would depend on the problem and i think the dealer would of told them the computer was bad. hope this helps.

2000 Saturn SL2 - replaced ignition then BCM failed. Related?


the problem is not the bcm. the passlock security sensor is in the cylinder and housing, if the cyl and or housing was replaced the system must be relearned. if you replace the bcm you still need to relearn the system or it still will not start.
